Ark: Survival Ascended players looking to roleplay as a member of House Targaryen are in luck because thanks to a recent mod, an entire fleet of draconic creatures can now be recruited and tamed. While it’s certainly true that Ark has long played host to dragons and wyverns, the variety on offer isn’t all that impressive, especially since the former is a boss fight that can only be encountered in the Dragon Arena. Those who want to see the mythical reptiles roaming the world like the dinosaurs will want to check out this excellent add-on.

Over on CurseForge, creator Ave shared their Draconic Chronicles mod which “aims to add more Draconic creatures and structures” to Ark: Survival Ascended. The add-on includes a wealth of additional monsters, including Fire Wyverns, a Polar Dragon, the very rare Wyvernicorn, The Wyrm, and even the terrifying Bloodstorm Dragon. These new species will spawn in locations that can largely be deciphered from their names; Sand Dragons are most likely to be encountered on beaches while the Flameforge Dragon lives in and around The Island’s more mountainous regions.

Decorations? More Like Dracorations

For those Ark: Survival Ascended players who really want to demonstrate their love of Dragons, the Draconic Chronicles mod also adds a wealth of unique structures and items themed around the titular beasts. These include the Draconic Obsidian Forge, the Draconic Incubator, the Draconic Cauldron, and even the Draconic Guide which will impart all kinds of wisdom relating to the reptilian creatures. To make matters even better, all of the added animals are tamale and breedable, meaning players can effectively start an entire farm dedicated to farming dragons.

Those players who want to take to the skies with their fantastical beasties are also in luck because nearly every single one of the added dragons comes with a saddle, making for a stylish mount. The only two that don’t are the Rejuvenation Dragon and the Inferno Wyvern. Having said that, Ave does state that the mod is still in active development so it’s very likely that more saddles will be added in the coming months.

Ark: Survival Ascended remains one of the most popular entries in the survival-crafting genre to this day largely because developer Studio Wildcard often works hand-in-hand with the community to develop game-changing mods. Some of the more high-quality mods produced by talented individuals or small studios can even be sold on a dedicated marketplace with Wildcard taking a 50% cut of the generated revenue. With such an active player base and modding scene, it seems like a given that Ark will be around for many more years to come.
