Home and Away star Emily Symons has promised a “huge” new storyline for her character Marilyn Chambers in 2025.
The actor, who made her first appearance as Marilyn back in 1989, teased that some “amazing stuff” is coming up on the soap next year, including a juicy storyline involving Marilyn and Roo Stewart.
“We’ve got a really big new story that I’m involved in with Georgie [Parker, who plays Roo], which is huge,” she told TV Week.
As for her hopes for Marilyn next year, Symons said she wants her character and Adam Cameron to “rekindle” their romance from decades ago.
“My wish list is that Adam and Marilyn rekindle their old relationship,” she said. “I was probably 20 when we did that story.”
Symons added that she and Adam actor Mat Stevenson – who was last seen on the soap in 1999 – talk about their characters reuniting “all the time”, saying: “We chat on Instagram and text and everything. He came to set to visit us once.
“He’s a very, very kind, lovely person and he’s a very good actor and a writer as well, so I just thought, ‘He’s still acting, why not?'”
A reunion for the pair doesn’t seem too far out of reach, especially given Stevenson was recently announced for the soap’s upcoming UK tour.
Home and Away: The Early Years, which kicks off next summer, will bring original cast members together on stage as they each relive their time on the show.
Stevenson will be joined by Nicolle Dickson (Bobby Simpson), Alex Papps (Frank Morgan), Sharyn Hodgson (Carly Morris) and Kristy Wright (Chloe Richards), as well as appearances from surprise special guests along the way.
Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5, with repeat screenings at 6pm on 5STAR and first-look screenings at 6.30pm on 5STAR. Selected classic episodes are available via Prime Video in the UK.
In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 and streams on 7Plus.
