A recent NCIS episode ended with Special Agent Nicholas Torres receiving a text from a mysterious person he called ‘babe’ – and their secret romance could be unearthed soon
A new NCIS season 22 update reveals when Nicholas Torres’ new secret relationship will be partially unveiled, potentially creating tensions and raising more questions about his love choices on the show.
The TV character, played by Wilmer Valderrama, is a Special Agent and Major Case Response Team member but on the series, his love life has been a huge point of interest for viewers. An episode that aired in December ended with the last few minutes showing that Torres had received a text that asked if they were “still on” for Christmas.
He replies that they were, even going as far as calling the person on the other line “babe.” Since then, there has been speculation on the potential identity of the agent’s love interest – and now, it has been claimed that his elusive romance could feature in season 22, episode 10, “Baker’s Man.”
The midseason episode will premiere on CBS on Monday, January 27 at 9 PM ET/PT, according to TV Line. The introduction of Nicholas’ romance into the storyline could potentially mean that there will be more character-driven plots in the latest season.
According to Screen Rant, the subplot could also offer a more intimate look at Agent Torres and how he handles external pressures while working for the NCIS team. Previously he was involved in a secret romance with Jessica Knight’s sister, Robin, and also had a brief relationship with NCIS colleague Eleanor Bishop.
After the episode that created speculation aired last month, fans were given some hints by the show’s executive producer, leading them to continue to theorize who Torres could be talking to. Steven D Binder, an executive producer for NCIS, spoke to TV Insider about the unknown love interest. “I can tell you that we’ve seen this person before,” he teased. “This will be a character who has been on the show before and will be back again and it’s going to cause some issues with some of his team members – one in particular, may or may not be related,” Steven continued.
Viewers of the show have shared their thoughts on Reddit. One user theorized, “Does anyone else think this new girlfriend could be Sarah McGee. The show writer has stated that we have seen this person before and that another person in squad room is not going to be happy about it.”
Sarah is Timothy McGee’s younger sister. Another user chimed in with, “We’ve all seen how far McBrother will go for his sister so there’s no telling how overboard this might send him…” However others disagreed. Someone added, “Think it’s Robin Knight because Sarah McGee is so far removed from appearing on NCIS.” About Robin being the possible love interest, Steven kept coy as he said he “can neither confirm nor deny this rumor.”
