The penultimate season of Outlander concludes this Friday as arcs that have been developing and exploding throughout the season get some resolution. In Outlander Season 7, Episode 16, “A Hundred Thousand Angels,” Claire (Caitríona Balfe) fights for her life while William (Charles Vandervaart) reconnects with some important people in his life to save a friend. The episode comes fresh off a heated state of affairs after William learns he was Jamie’s (Sam Hueghan) biological son. The discovery hurt his ego and entire existence, but he must put that aside and chart a way forward. Starz released images from the season finale, which show William doing just that as he reconnects with his two dads. The official logline below previews the two major arcs the finale will deal with.
“Denzell (Joey Phillips) must perform a dangerous operation with the skills he’s learned from Claire. William asks for help from an unexpected source in his mission to save Jane (Silvia Presente).”
Where Do We Go From Here?
The episode promises to be William-heavy as he works to free Jane, whose future seems bleak because of the charges against her. If not for his feelings for her, William must ensure Jane is free to return to her sister, Fanny (Florrie May Wilkinson), who’s not doing well in her absence. William is essentially the only person she knows, and the duty of caring for her befalls him. It’s not a light duty for a man who has never taken care of himself much, let alone a child. Will the Jane problem push him to seek help from Jamie or Lord John (David Berry)? Whatever drives him to them seems irrelevant, given that the images tease a relatively acceptable state of affairs between him and them. Despite appearing stern in some images, a proper conversation seems to soften him in both cases as his body language changes. Maybe he understands why they lied, or he needs their help.
Meanwhile, Jane has been arrested. She meets with a stranger who might be her attorney, but at this time, even the best attorneys could not overlook the fact that their client is a sex worker accused of murdering a “noble” man. Maybe the legal way won’t work, and on realizing this, William is prompted to break her out, as teased in an image where he covers his face with a gun in hand. Will anyone tell him he’s his father’s son? Claire’s face is nowhere to be seen, but given her ordeal, she is not in a position to be running around. Newlyweds Rachel (Izzy Meikle-Small) and Ian (John Bell) seem to be enjoying their marriage. In the past, Buck (Diarmaid Murtagh) and Roger (Richard Rankin) still try to figure out a way home but will they make it or get lost forever?
