A character from NCIS: Los Angeles will appear as their younger version in the NCIS: Origins season 1 finale. The latest addition to the NCIS franchise tackles the earliest days of Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ time with the agency he eventually served in for decades. NCIS: Origins can bring back beloved characters as younger individuals, as they did when Austin Stowell took over Gibbs from Mark Harmon. Beyond Kyle Schmid’s Mike Franks and Diany Rodriguez’s Vera, there are other supporting characters in the narrative that will be familiar to long-time followers of the CBS franchise.
Per TVLine, a young version of Lara Macy will make her prequel debut in the upcoming NCIS: Origins season 1 finale as part of the show’s exploration of Pedro Hernandez’s murder. For context, the character was played by Louise Lombard in the two-episode backdoor pilot for NCIS: Los Angeles, “Legend (Part I)” and “Legend (Part II),”. She was the Agent in Charge of the Office of Special Projects until G. Callen’s ambush that resulted in her re-assignment. Despite that, Macy never actually starred in NCIS: Los Angeles, as she was subsequently killed in the flagship.
Why Lara Macy Will Be In The NCIS: Origins Season 1 Finale
NCIS: LA’s Backdoor Pilot Revealed Gibbs and Macy’s History
When Macy and Gibbs reunited in NCIS, the pair had an odd dynamic. As it turned out, they went way back — to their early years at Camp Pendleton. While Gibbs was with the NIS, Macy was stationed early in her career as a Lieutenant and was tasked to investigate the murder of Pedro Hernandez. The Mexican drug runner was responsible for the deaths of Gibbs’ wife Shannon and daughter Kelly — something that NCIS: Origins has tackled repeatedly. The prequel has also revisited Gibbs’ murder of Hernandez, and now, it’s time for him to face the fallout from it.
Gibbs was never held responsible for his crime, but he carried a grudge against Macy for supposedly jamming him up. It wasn’t until they reunited later in their careers that he found out that she was actually helping the entire time by hiding evidence that would pin the murder on him. The pair separated on good terms, but the NCIS: Origins’ story cannot go the same route as their first encounter.
Our Take On NCIS: Origins Season 1 Finale Bringing Back Lara Macy
Macy Will Be Painted As A Villain
Before the prequel even made it clear that Gibbs would be investigated for what he did to Hernandez, Screen Rant predicted that this NCIS: LA backdoor pilot story would be paid off in the spinoff. It’s curious how long NCIS: Origins can stretch this out, especially considering the audience already knows how their story will end several years later. That said, don’t expect Macy to be the ally that she was to MCRT in NCIS: Origins. Gibbs never knew that she was helping him until much later on, so, she would likely be framed as a villain in the prequel.
