NCIS: Origins episode 15 has seemingly ended Tish and Frank’s romance, and it is more tragic than ever. Since the premiere, Tish and Franks have become NCIS: Origins’ best couple, and seeing their relationship fall apart over these last few episodes has been heartbreaking. The NCIS: Origins characters have such deeper storylines attached to them that it just makes it more painful when something bad happens to them.
The NCIS spinoff is not the first show in the NCIS franchise to feature the ups and downs of a prominent relationship within the MCRT, or its equivalent. However, the short timeline of their relationship within NCIS: Origins season 1 just makes everything more tragic. NCIS: Origins episode 15 even featured something that signified a turning point in Tish and Franks’ romance, but it was not enough to change anything.
NCIS: Origins Episode 15 Solves Tish’s Case
Tish Finally Has Closure And So Does Franks
The breaking point in Tish and Frank’s relationship was Franks’ insistence that he continue looking into her assault. When Tish asked Franks to stop investigating, he promised he would, only to go back on his word and secretly continue his investigation on his own. Not even his NCIS: Origins colleagues knew about it. In NCIS: Origins episode 13, “Monsoon,” Franks came clean to Tish, and she left.
Despite their separation happening in NCIS: Origins episode 13, it is not until episode 15 that the fallout of their relationship is finally addressed. In “From The Ashes,” the NCIS: Origins team investigates a case that is eerily similar to Tish’s. When Franks realizes the similarities, he explains his conflict of interest and assigns the case to Lala instead. After some bureaucratic back and forth between suspects and agencies, Tish’s perpetrator is finally caught and arrested. It should be happy news, but it acts as an ending.
When Tish learns that her attacker has been caught, she knows she can finally leave. She and Franks both have closure now, so they can both put the case behind them, even though it hurts. The final moments of NCIS: Origins episode 15 sees Tish leaving Los Angeles, potentially for good. Tish and Franks still love each other, but the broken trust is too big to ignore, so she decides to physically distance herself from him.
Will Tish & Mike Ever Reunite In NCIS: Origins?
There Is Still A Small Chance
While Tish and Franks’ breakup in NCIS: Origins seems permanent, it does not mean that they will never reunite again. In an interview with CinemaBlend, Kyle Schmid revealed in the aftermath of “Monsoon,” that Franks “knows, even as Tish is walking out the door, that it’s not over. That story is not done.” NCIS: Origins episode 15 may have provided closure for Tish and Franks’ relationship, but their story might not be fully over yet, as the characters’ love for each other could lead to something more.
NCIS: Origins episode 15 may have provided closure for Tish and Franks’ relationship, but their story might not be done yet.
NCIS: Origins still has several episodes until the finale, as well as a potential NCIS: Origins season 2. As Tish and Franks are NCIS: Origins’ most popular couple, cutting their storyline so soon in season 1 would be tragic. They have brought so much depth to NCIS: Origins’ episodes that the show would not be the same without them. Franks would also change dramatically as a result of heartbreak, and we have already slowly seen these changes in recent episodes. As such, there is still time to see the couple reunite in NCIS: Origins.
What NCIS Has Revealed About Tish & Mike’s Future?
It Doesn’t Look Good For Tish
According to NCIS canon, there is not much hope for Tish and Franks’ reunion. From the first episode that Franks appears in NCIS until his last, he is alone. He is surrounded by some friends and family members, but Tish is nowhere to be seen. As a result, it is safe to assume that he and Tish will break up sometime between NCIS: Origins and the premiere of NCIS. However, their impending breakup does not mean that their relationship has to be over so soon.
There are still about 10 years between the time of NCIS: Origins and the premiere of NCIS. If the writers can not change NCIS canon, then the least they can do is delay the pain of Franks’ breakup with Tish in NCIS: Origins. Franks and Tish’s relationship can still end on a good note if they are given a chance. Franks was alone in NCIS, but he was not necessarily unhappy. As a result, the NCIS: Origins writers could use this to their advantage by giving him and Tish a happy ending, or at least, a more mellowed breakup.
