The feature directorial debut from Evan Ari Kelman just got an exciting new look. After working on a series of shorts starting in 2012, Kelman has been tapped to direct Barron’s Cove, the upcoming crime thriller starring Garrett Hedlund, Stephen Lang, and Brittany Snow. We’re happy to partner with Well Go USA as part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event to unveil a new look at the film, which also stars Hamish Linklater and Raúl Castillo. Barron’s Cove follows a father with a violent past who grieves over the sudden loss of his only child. Intent on finding answers, he kidnaps a young boy he believes is responsible, which sets off a manhunt and a media frenzy. The boy is the son of a local politician, and as the man grows closer to uncovering the truth, he wonders if the manhunt is to protect the boy or the secrets he knows. Evan Ari Kelman also wrote the script for Barron’s Cove.
Barron’s Cove star Garrett Hedlund is best known for his role as Sam Flynn in Tron: Legacy and also for starring alongside Mark Wahlberg and Tyrese Gibson in Four Brothers. More recently, he was featured in a recurring role opposite Sylvester Stallone in Tulsa King, the Paramount+ series from Taylor Sheridan. As for his co-stars, Stephen Lang is best known for playing Miles Quaritch in James Cameron’s Avatar franchise, and he can also be seen in Prime Video’s House of David series. Brittany Snow is best known for her role as Chloe in the Pitch Perfect movies, and she also plays Alice in The Night Agent Season 2.
What Are the Best Kidnapping Movies Ever?
There are plenty of great kidnapping thrillers to check out in the months ahead of Barron’s Cove’s release. One of the most classic kidnapping movies ever is Taken, the one-person-army action film starring Liam Neeson that is still regarded as some of his most famous work. Kurt Russell’s The Breakdown is also held in high regard as one of the best kidnapping movies ever, as well as Split, which follows three girls kidnapped by a man with 23 personalities. Jake Gyllenhaal and Hugh Jackman’s Prisoners, directed by Denis Villeneuve, is also a phenomenal kidnapping flick.
Barron’s Cove releases in theaters and on VOD on June 6. Check out the new image above and stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of the film.
