NCIS star Michael Weatherly, who is known for playing special agent Anthony DiNozzo in the long-running series, has shared a cryptic update on social media.
Taking to Instagram, the 56-year-old actor suggested to his 115,000 followers that slow and steady wins the race, sharing a video of a slow-moving tortoise.
“Sometimes TV takes a little bit of time,” he wrote, with viewers taking this as a reference to the long wait time before the release of spin-off show NCIS: Tony & Ziva.
Fans were divided as they took to the comments section, with one complaining: “What do you expect from us !?? We have been waiting a decade now.”
“But like, exactly how much time? I kinda really, really, really want Tiva back now. no pressure tho, but like…soon?” a second wrote with a crying emoji.
“We’ve been waiting for YEARS!! Not at all patiently waiting over here,” another fan wrote, as one more begged him to “hurry up”.
“Slowest production ever,” one fan commented with another crying emoji, as another agreed: “It’s been a really long wait lol.”
However, others were more positive in the comments, with one viewer writing: “Through so many years it (will) still (be) great to get it.”
Another person echoed: “I’m waiting patiently. Get it done your way, the right way! It will be worth the wait!”
A third cheekily commented: “But that time is worth it when you see the outcome, like NCIS Tony & Ziva. Can you give us a little sneak peek?”
And a fourth reasoned: “Taking turtle time and that’s fine. As long as T&Z finally align!”
While a release date is yet to be announced for Tony and Ziva, Paramount Plus has confirmed that the 10-episode season will air some time in 2025.
However, Tony and his co-star Cote de Pablo, who plays Ziva David in the popular series, have said filming has wrapped following an eight-month shoot across Europe.
The synopsis for new spin-off NCIS: Tony & Ziva teases: “After Ziva’s apparent death, Tony raises their daughter, Tali. Years later, Ziva returns and reunites with Tony.
“Tony’s company is attacked, and the family travels to Europe, trying to learn who’s after them and to trust each other again.”
NCIS is available to watch on CBS and Paramount Plus.
