The official Outlander Instagram account has been stirring up some chatter as the call to action has seen thousands of fans swarm the comments section with some truly “outlandish” conjectures and wild theories. Fans who chose to discuss the most outrageous things they’d do for Outlander certainly did not disappoint.
Amidst all this animated chatter, a video has been floating online that has devastated viewers of the show. The two-minute 11-second video clip featuring a heartwrenching “deleted scene” from Outlander is making the rounds on social media — and fans are distraught that the scene was filmed but left out of the show.
The original post then links to a deleted clip posted on the social media platform Threads, which features Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) waking up and calling out for Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan). The clip also includes a gut-punching flashback of Jamie gifting Claire a medical kit. Viewers are then brought back into the present day, where Claire is adjusting to her new life.
Taking to Reddit, user Gottaloveitpcs posted in the Outlander subreddit, “This is a scene from the books that I really wanted to see. The fact that they actually filmed it, but then cut it makes it even worse. Mother Claire! My heart.”
Commenting on the touching deleted scene, another Redditor wrote, “Ahh I love this scene so much! I’m so bummed it didn’t make the cut. It’s superb. I think it might be my favorite scene from the episode even though it was cut.”
While another Outlander fan commented, “I completely agree. I’d love to see a ‘director’s cut’ where all of the deleted scenes were edited back in. I’d buy it.”
Meanwhile, on Threads, where the ‘deleted scenes’ video was originally posted, fans expressed their thoughts as well. While one user said they were “glad we still get to see it now”, another felt, “so many key scenes have been deleted imo [in my opinion].”
Another Outlander fan exclaimed, “So heartbreaking!! And so wish it wasn’t deleted,” while one questioned, “How could they delete THIS.”
Disappointment ran rampant with one Threads user commenting, “OMG, why was this cut, it’s heartbreaking…” Another sombrely observed, “Nobody gives her presents like that but Jamie.”
Previously, a lively debate had sparked off discussing how Jamie and Claire’s characters have been adapted for the screen. Sam Heughan and Catriona Balfe are renowned for their portrayals of Claire and Jamie Fraser in the popular Starz series, which has garnered a worldwide following by bringing Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander novels to life.
