An online panel released on June 1 to celebrate Outlander Day revealed insights into the two intertwined dramas, with cast members discussing details of their upcoming roles and connections between the shows.

Jamie Roy, who brings Brian Fraser to life, underscored the allure of Blood of My Blood: “I think the beauty about this show is even if you’ve never seen Outlander before, you can come into this show and enjoy it as a new viewer.”

Roy continued: “But also, if you’ve been a loyal fan since season one of Outlander, all the way through, you’re going to get so much out of it as well because you’re going to see all these little Easter Eggs and fill in these little holes. You’re going to get something out of it, which I think is very cool.”

Harriet Slater, portraying Ellen MacKenzie, hinted at a “thunderclap moment” igniting instant love between her character and Brian.

Expanding on that pivotal instant, Roy shared: “They say that love finds you when you’re least expecting it and I think that was the last thing on both these characters’ minds and literally it does feel like time stops.”

Roy went on to describe the magnetic connection between the characters: “Both of us are just taking each other in and just like, ‘Wow, this is unlike anything or anyone I’ve ever met.”

Heughan chimed in: “That’s like the beginning of the whole love story, which then creates the whole of Blood of My Blood and leading on to Outlander.”
