Reasons Sister Wives’ Gwendlyn Didn’t Attend Christine Brown’s Wedding With David

There are four major reasons why Gwendlyn Brown from Sister Wives avoided attending her mother, Christine Brown’s wedding with David Woolley.
Gwendlyn Brown, a Sister Wives cast member, did not attend Christine Brown’s wedding for a number of reasons. Since 2010, Christine and her six children have been a part of the reality TV series. Their polygamous father, Kody Brown, who has three other families, also made an appearance with the family. Christine and her ex-husband had a wonderful beginning to their relationship. The two didn’t mind polygamy and held similar religious views. Unfortunately, once Kody lost his role as patriarch, things altered. Christine became alienated by his new personality, and in 2021 they got divorced.
In 2023, Christine started dating again. Even though she first had trouble with online dating, she persisted in her search for the right person. The 51-year-old single mother disclosed her new relationship with David Woolley in February. A few months later, she gave him an engagement ring as evidence of her devotion. Christine and David warmly embraced one another as well as their separate families. The couple got engaged in the middle of 2023 and got married in October. For the couple, practically everything went as planned, but one item didn’t. Gwen, Christine’s devoted daughter, opted out of the nuptials.

4. Gwen Didn’t Want To Face Her Brother, Paedon

Gwen’s absence at Chirstine’s wedding has made fans speculate the reasons. However, the most likely of those seems to be her rivalry with Paedon Brown. Christine shares six kids with Kody. Her oldest ones are Aspyn “Ysabel” Thompson, 28, and Mykelti Padron, 27. Then there’s Paedon, 25, and Gwen, 21. Her youngest ones are Ysabel, 20, and Truely, 13. Over the years, Christine’s six children have lived harmoniously and grown older. However, something changed in 2022 after the middle son, Paedon, physically assaulted Gwen. He admitted his mistake on TikTok and said (via In Touch), “many years ago, I messed up. I hit Gwen.”

Paed on went into detail about the incident and revealed that he had “slapped Gwen after some words were exchanged.” He admitted that he crossed the line by hurting his sister, which left a mark on her. The Brown family descendant shared, “she thinks that I might do it again, and she’s scared of me.” It’s possible that Gwen didn’t go to Christine’s wedding because she is still traumatized by the incident with her brother. Paedon wants his sister to feel safe, but she has likely not forgiven him yet.

3. Gwen Had A Fallout With Christine
Gwen’s absence could also be related to her fallout with her mother, Christine. While the young woman cares for her family, she has had some differences with her parents. Some time ago, Gwen revealed to her Patreon subscribers that her mom didn’t invite her to Christmas in 2021. She also shared that she has been mad at Christine for how she treated her during the divorce. Gwen was in California when her family reunited for the holidays. She didn’t feel welcome, so she skipped the family gathering completely and focused on herself.

Gwen may have still not forgiven Christine and her father for how they didn’t care for her during their divorce period. She may have felt unwelcome again and decided to avoid her mother’s big day. One little detail that makes this theory a bit redundant is the Sister Wives cast member’s social media. Gwen still follows her mother on Instagram, and the same is true the other way around. In comparison, she isn’t following her brother at all. If Gwen had a problem with Christine, she would have long stopped being part of her social media.
2. Gwen Wanted To Avoid Cameras & Filming

It’s probable that Gwen wanted to stay out of the spotlight because the Sister Wives crew was meant to record her mother’s wedding. The fact that Gwen despises cameras could be related to her long-term viewing of reality TV. The young “queer” woman disclosed how it had impacted her family in 2022. She stated (via Cheatsheet), “Unfortunately, when I did come out, it felt a little bit forced because my household.” Robyn Brown, Gwen’s stepmother, reportedly expressed disappointment that she didn’t appear in front of the cameras, likely because it would have made for a spectacular moment for the show.
Gwen from Sister Wives added, “[It] came off very disrespectfully, and I still don’t understand why she would have said that to me.” Gwen likes to interact with her fans on her own accord on different social media platforms. However, she probably didn’t want to be pressured into filming at Christine and David’s wedding. Perhaps that’s why she decided to skip the ceremony despite being very close to her mother.
1. Christine’s Wedding May Not Have Been Sensory-Friendly For Autistic Daughter

Last but not least, Gwen might have skipped the big wedding and family gathering due to health issues. Gwen has admitted to being both “autistic” and “queer” in front of the cameras. She calls herself a “autistic b**ch” on social media and has a strong affinity for calming activities like designing and drawing. Gwen might have stayed away from the large gathering to prevent sensory overload. It wouldn’t be beneficial for her to meet so many people in a large setting since it would traumatize her emotionally or set off her senses.

In addition to that, Gwen may have felt that going to the wedding and having a health-related issue could have ruined Christine’s day. She probably wanted her mom’s big celebration to go smoothly and skipped it for her sake. Gwen’s social media hints that she avoids crowded places. She is often with groups of her people or her partner, Beatriz Queiroz. The Brown family’s daughter likes to be around selected people. It will be interesting to see if the Sister Wives star eventually reveals the real reason for not attending Christine’s dream wedding.

Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. EDT on TLC.
