At a heated discussion about their competing schedules and, shockingly, her tattoos, Kyle also opened up to her husband about why they’ve had “a challenging year together” in a confessional interview. As a press release for the show’s return states, “With her 27-year marriage in turmoil and her relationship with her sister in limbo, Kyle reaches her breaking point after the tabloids — and those closest to her — question her budding friendship with a well-known country singer.” The latest on the couple’s marriage follows months of them being the subject of separation rumors, which are sure to pop up throughout Season 13.

Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky’s “Challenging Year Together”

In a confessional interview, Kyle explained, “Mo and I have had a challenging year together. He has been working non-stop [and] I’ve been working. When you have to schedule a meeting to go over your schedule, you know it’s a problem.”

Kyle Richards’ Recent “Painful Times”
While having the aforementioned meeting, Mauricio complimented Kyle’s commitment to her new wellness routine. “You look so good,” he said. “You’re working out like a beast right now, you’re eating well, you’re not drinking. Like, you’re changing your life.”

In a confessional, Kyle went on to explain why she’s been making the changes. “When you go through painful times in your life, it changes you as a person,” she remarked, referring to her and Mauricio’s issues as well as the RHOBH Season 12 turmoil involving her cast mates and her sister Kathy Hilton. Feeling disappointed by my friends, feeling distant from my husband—you need to find a way to let it all out, sister. Here I am, feeling good about it and hoping Mo feels the same way.”

Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky’s Major Disagreement

Kyle and Mauricio’s conversation turned to the subject of her five tattoos after he noticed the one on her ankle and asked, “How many tattoos do you have right now?”

“Seriously?” he said after she answered him. “I only knew of three.”

“Well, maybe you should be looking at my body closer,” Kyle responded, adding in a confessional, “This is clearly a big symptom of not spending time together. Years ago, he would’ve noticed a freckle on my body. Now he doesn’t know that I have two more tattoos.”

Back in the conversation, Mauricio said, “I think that’s enough, yeah? Five tattoos is a lot.”

Kyle disagreed and the two wound up going back and forth for a bit. Kyle, however, ultimately concluded, “If I want one, I’m going to get one. It’s my body. You don’t have a choice.”

“I’m at a point in my life [where] I don’t have to explain anything to anybody anymore, including you,” she said. “I’ve just realized that even with all of that, bad things may still happen. I moved from following my mother’s instructions to becoming a mother and setting a positive example for my daughters. I don’t know if it’s because of my sister’s experience or anything else, but I simply don’t feel like I have to answer to anyone.”
