Sister Wives star Meri Brown is coming for fans who criticize her self-esteem and the choices she’s made in her life after separating from Kody Brown.

Meri Brown, star of Sister Wives, said that she has received criticism regarding her self-worth, but she is gladly dismissing the notion that her decision to stand up for her marriage to Kody Brown was anything other than a bravery demonstration. Kody has been upfront about his desire to end their relationship, and Meri has been working through some of her difficulties with him throughout Sister Wives season 18. Although Kody hasn’t stated outright that he wants to end their marriage, he has been honest with Meri about his feelings. Kody even admitted to Meri in a recent Sister Wives episode that he thought their connection was artificial.

In Sister Wives season 18, episode 12, Meri started thinking about her marriage as something that is now in the past. She has been considering abandoning her relationship with Kody. Meri stated in an interview with People that “people often tell me things like ‘you don’t realize what you’re worth,’ so there are a lot of misconceptions about me personally. You are worthless. Meri has faced abuse from her followers in the past, but she hasn’t allowed it get to her. “I know what I’m worth, and I know what my value is,” she said.

Meri & Kody Brown’s Sister Wives Relationship Explained

Even though Meri has spoken out against the way her marriage to Kody ended, she has always been the first to submit to his demands. She revealed that despite the criticism she has received for her lack of confidence, she feels more confident in her choices now that she has made the proper ones for herself. “I 100% gave it my all,” Meri said. “I exerted every effort within my capacity. And I would have had a question in my head forever if I had left any sooner.” Meri is comfortable with the decisions she makes, yet she still struggles to get by on her own away from the family.

As Kody’s first and original wife, Meri has always had a difficult time separating herself from the rest of the Brown family. While she runs her business, Lizzie’s Heritage Inn, independently of the Brown family, she’s always been one of the most vocal advocates for their plural family and has made it clear that she would have stayed in her marriage if it were possible. Throughout Sister Wives season 18, Meri has proven that she wasn’t really paying attention to her marriage with Kody, as the cracks in the relationship weren’t as apparent to her as they were to the rest of the family or her fans.

Even while Meri was battling for her marriage to Kody, she was failing to look beyond Sister Wives and her personal circumstances. Meri was shocked to see how things turned out, even though it had been clear for years that Kody no longer wanted to be in a relationship with her. Meri decided to break up with Kody because she had tried too long to maintain their relationship steady. Thankfully, it appears like Meri has enough self-assurance to not require outside assistance, even though Sister Wives fans aren’t being as encouraging as they could be.

Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. EST on TLC.
