Despite the fact that Raven Bowens is still very new to the “Days of Our Lives” community, she has certainly depicted her fair share of drama. In July 2021, Bowens took over Precious Way’s role as Chanel Dupree in Salem for the first time. Chanel has had a very difficult love life since she first appeared on the soap opera, leading her to marry Xander Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) and Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman), both of whom ended in divorce. When they built their bakery together, Chanel and Johnny’s sister Allie (Lindsay Arnold) also got involved, but their romance ended when Allie had an affair with Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson).

Bowens was mostly raised by her mother in San Diego, and she has already starred in various other projects, snagging gigs on “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” as Tilly and “Mr. Student Body President” as Savannah Peters. So whether you recognize Bowens from the daytime screen or her featured role on “All Rise,” it’s clear that her career is just taking off, and there is a lot more to discover about this rising star.

Raven Bowens was initially turned down for the role of Chanel

Raven Bowens has experienced her fair share of auditions and rejections, much like the majority of performers in Hollywood. Bowens submitted a self-tape as part of her application for the role of Chanel on “Days of Our Lives,” but the casting directors didn’t respond right away. She outlines her path to landing the part of Chanel in an interview with Soap Opera Digest.

“About a month or so later, I got a call for a chemistry read, but I didn’t get the part,” she told the magazine. “A few weeks later, I secured [another play], so I was performing that show in New York when ‘Days’ called and offered me the part. It was quite bizarre.

Despite the quick turnaround from the offer to the start of filming, Bowens formed solid connections with her fellow “Days” actors. She expressed her gratitude to Lindsay Arnold and Lucas Adams, who play Tripp Johnson and Allie Horton, for welcoming her into the cast with open arms.

Raven Bowens’ biggest fan was her grandmother

Due to her excellent acting skills and the chemistry she shares with her co-stars on “Days of Our Lives,” Raven Bowens’ Chanel Dupree has rapidly become a fan favorite. Bowens’ late grandmother is one fan who she wishes had lived to witness her success today. In a chat with NBC San Diego News, Bowens was candid about her relationship with her grandmother and her love for “Days.”
“The offer [for Chanel] happened on my birthday and I ended up starting the job on my grandmother’s birthday,” she reportedly told the publication. The fact that I started the job on her birthday, April 9, seemed to be a sign.

Bowens went on to describe how supportive her grandmother was of her choice to become an actor, and she expressed that she knows her grandmother is watching over her now. With the support from her family and the fans, we can’t wait to see what’s in store for Raven Bowens and Chanel Dupree alike.
