Outlander season eight is now underway with the cast recently reuniting for a read through of the final ever series

Outlander’s Sophie Skelton will be returning as Brianna Fraser for the final two series of the Starz time-travelling drama. And, it seems she’s feeling rather emotional about it coming to an end.

Earlier this month the cast gathered to read through their final scenes and Sophie revealed she needed her beloved pup by her side. Sharing a snap on her Instagram page, she wrote: “Bring your dog to final read through day.”

Sophie could be seen standing in front of a castle, which wouldn’t look out of place in the series, with her pet pooch.

The post came after she shared an emotional message to fans for their support alongside a reel of her best moments as Brianna. Sophie wrote: “I’m so honoured to have played this little ginger kid and to watch her grow into one of the most impressive, resilient, vulnerable characters on screen. Happy 10 years of @outlander_starz. We couldn’t have done it without you fans. We love you.X.”

Unsurprisingly, fans rushed to share their support and anguish over Outlander coming to an end. One commented: “This character was made for you, you’ve been so incredible as Brianna for so many years. We are so proud of you Sophie.”

Another fan added: “What a journey… and what an accomplishment! Thank you for bringing Brianna to life so powerfully.” A third continued: “I loved you from the start. You did a great job of playing a teenager who doesn’t understand to a wife and mother. You are brilliant.”

Sophie isn’t the only Outlander star emotional about the series coming to an end as her on-screen mother Caitriona Balfe shared a sweet reel from the final read through. She posted on her Instagram page: Here we are …… 11 years 101 episodes and a whole lotta love, sweat and tears (and some blood) … thank you @outlander_starz @sptv @samheughan @sophie.skelton @rikrankin @johnhunterbell @izzy_meikle @caitlinoryan and all the rest of our cast and crew and fans…. It’s been a journey and a half @nightmaril @matthew_b_roberts and all our writers and producers.”
