Brian’s troubles only intensified with age when Captain ‘Black Jack’ Randall (Tobias Menzies) arrived at Lallybroch one day while he was attending a funeral.
The Redcoat and his men pillaged the estate, with Black Jack attempting and failing to rape Jenny.
Jamie attempted to protect Jenny and was arrested and taken to Fort William, where he was whipped.
As shown in Outlander, Black Jack administered a second, more severe whipping shortly after the first, which Brian sadly witnessed.
The whipping was excessively cruel, with Black Jack attempting to tie himself to Jamie through this extreme act of violence.
During the flogging, Brian believed his son had passed away, causing him to faint from shock.
