Antony Starr may be best known for one specific role, but the actor has had other notable performances in his career that have totaled up to a tidy net worth. Starr’s first notable acting role came in 1995, when he played Mesas in an episode of Xena: Warrior Princess, and a year later, he again appeared on the show as a different character named David. His first significant part came in the New Zealand series Mercy Peak as Todd Van der Velter from 2001 to 2003, and larger roles, primarily in his native New Zealand, became more frequent.

2004 saw Starr appear in Without a Paddle and a year later he starred in the comedy crime drama Outrageous Fortune as twins Jethro and Van West. Antony Starr is a dramatically underrated TV actor who has appeared in many more starring roles across his career but only gained wider attention after being cast as the sadistic superhero Homelander in Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys. It’s the role that’s elevated Starr to a new level of fame, suggesting great things for his future career. Starr may not currently have a romantic relationship, but he does have a significant net worth.

Antony Starr’s Net Worth

Starr Has Earned $2 Million In His Career

Antony Starr’s net worth is $2 million (via Celebrity Net Worth). It may not be as much as Homelander gets paid in The Boys lore, but it’s still a sizable amount. While it isn’t confirmed, it’s likely Starr has earned most of his fortune playing Homelander in The Boys. He does have about 25 years of acting in film and television before The Boys, however, and if he has spent his money wisely, Starr likely went into the comic book adaptation with a healthy net worth even before becoming one of the most important characters in the Emmy-nominated show.

Antony Starr’s Age & Height

Starr Is A Scorpio

Antony Starr was born on October 25, 1975, making him 48 in the summer of 2024. According to IMDb, Starr’s height is 5′ 11″, but CelebHeights puts him at 5′ 10 1/2″. Either way, he’s one of the taller cast members in The Boys. Starr’s zodiac sign is Scorpio, a water sign represented by a scorpion. According to Allure, Scorpios tend to “lie in wait” for the perfect time to strike, carefully contemplating their life and actions.

This can very easily be applied to Starr’s long-lasting career. Every year, step by step, he’s taken on slightly bigger roles, in slightly more notable projects. He’s never had a big swing that failed or changed the trajectory of his career dramatically. He simply worked hard in the roles he was given until something like The Boys came along, and boy did Starr strike then, turning Homelander into one of the most memorable superhero characters in arguably the most crowded genre of contemporary movies and television.

Antony Starr Tried To Sabotage His Homelander Audition

Starr Did Not Even Read The Full Script

Surprisingly, Antony Starr as Homelander was a casting that almost didn’t happen. When Starr first got the script, he dismissed it, telling Metro,

“My reps sent me the script through and said this is one we should look at. I was busy, I was working pretty much every hour under god sent and they called me a week later and said, ‘Have you read it?’ I was like, ‘No, leave me alone – I’m busy.'”

When Starr finally read it was a superhero part, he almost gave up then and there and may not have auditioned except due to pressure from his agents,
“So I didn’t look at it for a week and a half and then I saw it was a superhero thing and I thought they’re not going to pick me anyway, I’m not made for that. Henry Cavil’s 12 feet tall, built like a 12 foot brick s**t house and he’s wonderful, handsome and charming – I’m not going to get that. Then they were hassling so I sat in my dressing room, picked a spot on my iPad and filmed this audition almost out of spite for my reps. Then it got to Eric and [my reps] said, ‘They loved it!’ which was surprising.”

It was only after Starr got the part that he really paid attention to what was in the script and was delighted by what he read. Thank goodness he did or audiences would never have gotten to see the merciless energy Antony Starr has brought to the screen with his fantastic portrayal of Homelander.
