Big Brother season 26 will premiere with a two-night event on Wednesday, July 17 and Thursday, July 18 that’s sure to have lots of surprises. When CBS announced its fall schedule, Big Brother 26 was noticeably absent, leading to speculation that the reality competition series would return to its summer schedule after airing from August 2 to November 9 last year due to the WGA writers’ strike. CBS needed programming for its fall schedule because its scripted shows were on hiatus, so Big Brother season 25, which lasted 100 days, filled that void.
In a Big Brother Instagram post, host Julie Chen Moonves shares the news that Big Brother 26 will premiere on Wednesday, July 17 and continues on Thursday, July 18 in a two-night event.
In the Instagram post, Zingbot’s voice is heard saying, “Zingity Zingity Zing!” and the dates July 17 and July 18 flash on the screen. Julie then asks, “Did you see that? Big Brother is back this summer on CBS. And streaming on Paramount Plus.” The caption of the post reads, “Wait, did you see that? #BB26 is coming your way for a TWO NIGHT premiere on Wednesday, July 17 and Thursday, July 18! Mark your calendars for a whole new season of #BigBrother.”
What To Expect From Big Brother 26
Big Brother 26 Will Likely Feature Returning Competitions
Other than the premiere date and the return of Julie as host, no information has been given about Big Brother 26. However, if past seasons are any indication, then fans can anticipate seeing some returning competitions. The beloved veto competition, OTEV, is just one of the many games that fans have come to expect each season on Big Brother. Zingbot’s voice in the Instagram announcement seems to indicate that the robot full of insults will be returning to the game as well.
Big Brother 25 was a milestone season, and it lived up to the high expectations. It was the longest ever at 100 days and featured the surprise addition of Survivor legend Cirie Fields to the cast. She secretly played the game with her son, Jared Fields. In addition, the Big Brother 25 winner and runner-up made history. Winner Jag Bains was the first Sikh player and runner-up Matt Klotz was the first deaf player ever to compete on Big Brother. They formed an alliance called the Minute Men and dominated the end of the game. Also, Cameron Hardin won the America’s Favorite Houseguest prize.
It’s exciting to hear that Big Brother 26 will be returning to the CBS summer schedule. With three episodes a week, it’s a big commitment, and the summer is the perfect time to get invested in it. It’ll be thrilling to see who’ll be cast on Big Brother 26. There could be all-new cast members and/or returning players from previous seasons. Big Brother 26 is certain to be full of surprises, so fans should continue to “expect the unexpected.”
