The cast is about to embark on their final days of filming the beloved Starz series.
Ironically, there’s sure to be plenty of waterworks as we edge ever closer to the droughtlander becoming a permanent state.
And it’s time to get those tissues ready as the march to Outlander’s conclusion has officially begun. On Monday, the cast of the Starz drama gathered for their final ever table read, focused on the last block of episodes, including the series finale. The cast shared photos and videos online to celebrate the milestone, marking 11 years together as an ensemble.
Caitriona Balfe, who led the series as the fierce Claire, shared an Instagram reel featuring shots of her and her costars Sam Heughan and Sophie Skelton, as well as a shot of her name placard for the reading.
“Here we are…11 years 101 episodes and a whole lotta love, sweat and tears (and some blood),” she wrote alongside the video. “Thank you @outlander_starz @sptv @samheughan @sophie.skelton @rikrankin @johnhunterbell @izzy_meikle @caitlinoryan and all the rest of our cast and crew and fans…. It’s been a journey and a half ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ @nightmaril @matthew_b_roberts and all our writers and producers.”
Balfe wasn’t the only one getting emotional on social media. Heughan, who rose to fame playing the widely beloved Jamie Fraser, also shared a selfie of himself and Balfe seated for the read-through, writing, “Final readthrough. Final block. Final season.”
Skelton, who plays Claire and Jamie’s daughter Bree, also marked the moment, sharing an image of herself standing outside an imposing historic building with her pup. “Bring your dog to final read through day,” she wrote.
It wasn’t just the cast getting emotional about their last table read either. Executive producer Maril Davis shared a wider shot of the principal cast gathered around the table with their scripts in what appears to be a massive historic home.
“What an emotional day,” Davis wrote. “The last read thru for the last block of Outlander. Tears were shed (mine) but thankfully we provided Outlander hankies to dry those tears. Hard to imagine that our first official read thru was 11 years ago. The final countdown has begun.”
