Christine Brown is free of Kody Brown, and she wants to bring Janelle Brown with her. However, the Sister Wives patriarch won’t let go easily.
On Sister Wives, Kody Brown is eager to place the blame for his split from Janelle Brown somewhere else, and his ex-wife Christine Brown is the next to do so. Kody and Robyn Brown have organized a front against his previous three wives, including Meri Brown, as they separated and divorced, and Christine is in serious difficulty with them. While Janelle and Meri have been hesitant to leave Kody, Christine married David Woolley and has totally transitioned away from the polygamist lifestyle.
The tumultuous interpersonal fallout that has pervaded every episode of Sister Wives season 18 up to this point continued in episode 10 of the same season. In stark contrast to Kody, who only permitted the family to observe Passover because it more closely reflected his beliefs, Christine and Janelle let their kids participate in Easter celebrations. While admitting he would be “okay” with only having Robyn and her family left, he was willing to make an Easter-Passover mashup for Robyn, whom he prefers. Poor Meri had anticipated that by moving to Utah, Kody would put up more of a fight, but Kody is too focused on keeping Janelle that he doesn’t give a damn about Meri’s departure.
Janelle’s Loyalty Is Vital To Both Christine And Kody’s Images
Since Christine left Kody, she’s appeared happier, more accessible, and more opinionated. Though she doesn’t have a close relationship with Meri and has a strained connection with Robyn, Christine and Janelle are close. Christine remarked to her now-husband, David, that Janelle would always indeed be a sister wife to her, and he needed to understand that. Getting Janelle to separate from Kody fully will be a win for her ego, a way to show Kody that she has the upper hand and the only way she can have the relationship with Janelle she desires.
On the other hand, Kody’s grip on power within his family has crumbled, and keeping Janelle would be the win he needs. Kody knows Christine’s hold on Janelle, saying, “Christine has so much influence over Janelle, I just think it’s pathetic.” He needs to show Christine that he’s still the controlling patriarch, and she may be able to leave, but he owns everyone else. If Janelle falters and returns to Kody, Meri will likely come crawling back from Utah.
Christine Thinks Getting Janelle Out Of Flagstaff Is Key
Christine thinks Janelle has to leave Flagstaff in order to have the clarity and courage to leave Kody. Christine said exasperatedly in a confessional in the most recent Sister Wives episode, “Call it like it is and get out of Flagstaff! Sorry, this is really sad,” she said in reference to her romance with Kody. Even though Janelle still desires to mend her marriage to Kody, it is obvious that he will not alter, and Janelle has insisted on this. Robyn is also viewed like a supporting player in Kody’s life rather than as Robyn’s equal wife because he plays monogamy with her. Christine was accurate when she said Janelle would notice this if she could just get away from him.
Watching Janelle simultaneously pine and stress over Kody is difficult to watch. While she hasn’t always been an angel, Kody is a nasty person trying to get Janelle back to win a power struggle against Christine. His ex-wife seems to genuinely care for Janelle as a friend, so hopefully, she can convince Janelle to leave Kody on Sister Wives once and for all.
