Criminal Minds: Evolution season 3 is now in production not long after the season 2 finale was released on Paramount+. Despite the initial challenges of bringing the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis (BAU) team back to the small screen after ending their 15-year stint on CBS, the show proves to be worth all the hassle for the streamer. Even before Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 ended, Paramount+ already ordered the series’ third season, highlighting how big of a success the revival is on the platform.
Surprisingly, Criminal Minds: Evolution season 3 has already entered production, as revealed in a new behind-the-scenes video from Kirsten Vangsness on Instagram.
In the video, Vangsness takes a video of herself hanging out with Adam Rodriguez and Joe Mantegna in the season 3 set. They are not filming yet, but they are doing table reads instead.
What Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 3’s Production Schedule Means For Its Release
Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 3 Is Guaranteed To Release In 2025
Criminal Minds: Evolution season 3 was confirmed before the mystery of Gold Star was officially solved. However, aside from the renewal, not much was revealed about the specifics of the procedural’s upcoming year. Because of this, it’s surprising that production for season 3 has already started this soon. Granted that the cast has yet to get back on a proper set and begin filming, the fact that they are already doing a table reading this early means that the creatives behind the series have already determined the BAU’s next story.
Now that Paramount+ already has the ball rolling for season 3, the question is whether missing characters such as Spencer Reid can return as a member of the Criminal Minds: Evolution cast.
The perk is that Paramount+ can release Criminal Minds: Evolution season 3 in early 2025. Production takes several months, and streaming shows are premiered once a full season has already been filmed. Given that, the BAU can return to the small screen for new episodes sooner rather than later. Unlike many ongoing shows on streamers, Criminal Minds: Evolution has had the luxury of releasing a new season every year. Given this new reveal, Paramount+ can maintain that scheduling trend for season 3.
Now that Paramount+ already has the ball rolling for season 3, the question is whether missing characters such as Spencer Reid can return as a member of the Criminal Minds: Evolution cast. There were plans to include him in the past seasons, but Matthew Gray Gubler’s schedule just didn’t line up, hindering his comeback as the BAU’s golden boy. This time, however, it’s curious if things finally work out so that viewers can finally see the fan-favorite character again.
