When Tate Black, who has undergone SORAS, returns to Salem with his parents Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Theresa (Emily O’Brien), Jamie Martin Mann makes his Days of our Lives debut.

Previously, Tate has been living in California, and coming back to the town where he once was raised causes deep emotions for the teenager.

Mann told Soap Opera Digest in their latest issue, “There’s a part of him that associates Salem with the life that he wishes he could have had: a life with his father, his mom, and even his half-sister. So when he gets back, there’s a little resentment.”

Tate’s checkered past also plays into his psyche as Mann shares, “Because it’s a close community, everybody knows he’s caused trouble at school. Everybody’s looking at him with this sort of reprimanding lens.”

“There’s a part of him that associates Salem with the life that he wishes he could have had: a life with his father, his mom, and even his half-sister,” Mann said in the most recent issue of Soap Opera Digest. There will therefore be some bitterness when he returns.

Tate’s checkered past also plays into his psyche as Mann shares, “Because it’s a close community, everybody knows he’s caused trouble at school. Everybody’s looking at him with this sort of reprimanding lens.”

As viewers learn more about how Tate’s back-story, and how he feels about how his parents only took the time to check in on him when he pulled stunts at school, the more they will be clued in to what motivates his behavior.
In story, Brady secures a job for Tate at the Brady Pub, but he also crosses paths with the SORAS’d Holly (Ashley Puzemis) in the park. As Mann notes, “He’s dying to find a friend.” Cue the love story of Holly and Tate? Stay tuned.
