Outlander, the hit television series starring Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe, has pulled viewers in for years, but for many, it was Diana Gabaldon’s book series from which the show was inspired by that first drew them into the whimsical world of romance and bravery. The first novel, Outlander, was released in 1991, with the show premiering in 2014, and over the years, the book series has expanded with eight additional novels. Gabaldon’s most recent body of work in the series, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, came out in 2021, and since then, fans of the series have been anxiously anticipating what became affectionately known as “Book Ten.” However, readers are in luck—Gabaldon just pulled the curtain back on where the book is at, and even revealed the title! All about ‘Outlander’ Book Ten
Since the ninth book in the series came out, fans have been counting down until Claire and Jamie’s story finally concluded. With the show’s eighth and final season said to be on the way, it has many wondering when their story will conclude on the page—but thanks to a post Gabaldon shared to Facebook, we finally have some answers.
Before revealing the book’s title, Gabaldon emphasized that the book has yet to be finished, does not have a date in which it is set to publish and is still in the process of being written. She went on to share that while she does know how Claire and Jamie’s story will end, she will certainly not be revealing such a thing until the book is out and in reader’s hands—understandably so! A Blessing for a Warrior Going Out is what the tenth book in the series will be called—but don’t freak out about what that might imply about your favorite characters!
“NO, that doesn’t mean Jamie’s going to die,” Gabaldon clarified. “It’s not a death blessing, it’s the Blessing of St. Michael, said for a warrior about to go and do something important and possibly dangerous. There are quite a few people in this book who qualify for that blessing, believe me…,” she wrote. If you know anything about the Outlander series, you know she’s right!
Gabaldon went on to share an excerpt from this upcoming novel, delighting fans significantly, and many took to the comments to share the love! “I gasped when I read the title. Is this definitely the last ‘Outlander’ book?
While Galabdon confirmed that this would be the final book in the main series, she went on to say that “there may be other companion books and side stories, depending on how long I live.” We can’t wait to see how this story ends!
