The seventh season of Outlander may have concluded earlier this year, but fans of the Starz historical drama are now being treated to a sneak peek behind the scenes. Nell Hudson, who portrays Laoghaire MacKenzie, has shared some clips she captured while filming the latest series.
In one video, the crew is seen preparing for a scene featuring Jamie Fraser, played by Sam Heughan. The 44 year old actor was spotted engaging in lively conversation with his colleague Sandy Jack, who plays Laoghaire’s most recent spouse, Joey Boswell Murray, reports the Scottish Daily Express.
Hudson, aged 34, gave her followers a glimpse into the action, saying: “We’re currently doing some stunts which involve my chipmaker husband Joey here having a go at attacking Jamie and I don’t think it ends very well.”
Eagle-eyed fans were quick to comment on the post after noticing an intriguing detail, with one asking: “Does Jamie has a body double?” to which another fan confirmed: “yes for stunts”.
A third elaborated: “Sam does most of his own stunts if you have to see Jamies face. The double takes over for back of the head shots etc.”
“Remember S1 E9 when Jamie had to rescue Claire from Randalls office .. it was Sam that climbed down the prison wall to the window. It was also Sam and Cait that jumped off the castles battlements into the water [sic].”
Some viewers were amused at spotting the stunt double, as one remarked: “Fun! cool seeing Sam’s stunt double! ! ! [sic].
“Seeing Jamie’s body double in background hehe [sic],” pointed out another.
An original fan was left thoroughly impressed and remarked: “Wow! The making of a show like this is so much work and with big risks. I never thought about it in this way.”
Hudson also posted some behind-the-scenes clips, including light-hearted moments with herself and Jack, where they humorously contemplated “starting a chip shop”. In another snippet, she quizzed Jack on his role, with Heughan chiming in: “He likes potatoes! He likes potatoes. We’ve decided that he… does he not start a new business with Laoghaire in Scotland? A chippy. Chips – fries for American fans.”
The Victoria star and writer shared a splendid video arriving at Midhope Castle in Hopetoun, which doubles as Lallybroch on the show, alongside footage showcasing the capricious weather encountered during filming.
