Ever since Fire Country season 3’s premiere, Manny has been openly campaigning against Bode and Gabriela being romantically linked, but season 3, episode 5 proved he was right at last – despite being so for the wrong reasons. Fire Country season 2’s finale showed Bode willing to confess his feelings for Gabriela, being at peace with crashing the wedding if it meant Gabriela finally knew the truth he had been keeping secret since he returned to Edgewater. Manny succeeded in stopping Bode, kickstarting his firefighting journey, but Gabriela’s choice in Fire Country season 3’s premiere eventually showed she couldn’t marry Diego.
Working together in the aftermath of the helicopter crash showed Gabriela both the good and the bad of her and Bode’s bond. Indeed, Bode was the most supportive when she had to treat the helicopter pilot in unstable circumstances, but Bode’s choice to cut Gilmore’s medical alert necklace to protect her also highlighted how volatile they always made the already difficult situations Bode and Gabriela found themselves in. This prompted Gabriela to ask for some distance, which only worked until Fire Country season 3, episode 4’s ending, when Bode and Gabriela hooked up in Vince and Sharon’s Airstream trailer.
Manny Is Right About Bode & Gabriela, But It’s The Other Way Around
It’s Gabriela That Is Bad For Bode
Despite wanting to pursue a romantic relationship with Gabriela, Bode not only respected her request of distance but also focused consistently on his Cal Fire training. Even if Jake might have thought of him as untrustworthy after Bode cut Gilmore’s medical alert necklace, Bode proved himself as focused and reliable again and again, to the point that Audrey could see it right after she tried to have him not admitted into phase 2. Fire Country season 3 showed how Bode is doing all the right things after being released from Three Rock, focusing on his dream future as a firefighter.
Manny told Bode he thought he was bad for Gabriela when Gabriela was behaving terribly with Bode, proving Manny’s point Bode and Gabriela shouldn’t be together, which would benefit Bode more than Gabriela now.
Gabriela’s realization about her and Bode in Fire Country season 3 reached Manny’s same conclusions about Bode and Gabriela bringing the worst out of each other. However, Gabriela was unwittingly trying to sway Bode negatively in Fire Country season 3, episode 5. From trying to lure Bode to the trailer while he was on shift to refusing to consider his feelings, Gabriela only thought of herself. Manny told Bode he thought he was bad for Gabriela when Gabriela was behaving terribly with Bode, proving Manny’s point Bode and Gabriela shouldn’t be together, which would benefit Bode more than Gabriela now.
Gabriela Has Been Acting Strangely Since The Fire Country Season 3 Premiere
Gabriela’s Attitude With Bode & Manny Changed Greatly From Season 2
Manny’s attempt at having a heart-to-heart with Gabriela in Fire Country season 3, episode 5 put him close enough to her to recognize the past behavior he enacted when he avoided his loved ones in Gabriela. While Manny might not know the true extent of her isolation, Gabriela had been acting oddly ever since Fire Country season 3’s premiere, and the usual recipients of her poor behavior were Manny and Bode. Indeed, even when Manny’s arrest put him in a very difficult situation, Gabriela made it all about herself and how it made her feel, sparing little thought for Manny.
Similarly, Gabriela shut down any conversation Bode might have wanted to have about their relationship progressing to more than a casual fling. This was evident in Gabriela’s repeated allusions only to hooking up and attempts to shut down any conversation about a future together in Fire Country season 3, episode 5, but even more so when Bode questioned whether she was alright, to which she just stormed away. Gabriela’s behavior even became volatile with patients at work, highlighting a progressively more worrying situation that Fire Country season 3 will have to tackle before it’s too late.
