Home and Away spoilers follow for Australian-paced episodes, which some UK viewers may prefer to avoid.

Home and Away actor Jessica Redmayne have spoken out about her character Harper Matheson’s current dilemma.

Harper is currently pregnant and, in scenes set to air this week in Australia for the season finale (set for March in the UK), she will learn that the baby has a cyst on his lung.

Doctor Levi Fowler tells Harper and the baby’s father Tane Parata that if she doesn’t have in-utero surgery, she could suffer foetal heart failure. But the risks is that Levi has never performed this type of surgery before, and it could result in the baby’s premature birth.

Speaking to the TV Week publication, Redmayne explained that Harper’s initial response is to say no to the surgery.

“Harper is so scared at the thought that major surgery could be detrimental to her baby’s health and chance of survival,” she said.

“She doesn’t believe her baby will survive the surgery and she thinks she can control her blood pressure and bring him back to health naturally.”

Will Harper change her mind or not, and what will happen to the baby?

It’s not the only dramatic storyline unfolding this week, as Eden Fowler’s ex-fiancé Cash Newman is continuing to stalk her new boyfriend Tim, and when faces from his past turn up, it soon turns into a face-off.

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5, with repeat screenings at 6pm on 5STAR and first-look screenings at 6.30pm on 5STAR. Selected classic episodes are available via Prime Video in the UK.
