Fans have eagerly awaited House of the Dragon season two for the last year and a half. Numerous prominent TV series encountered significant production delays due to Writers’ Guild and SAG-AFTRA strikes. However, the Game of Thrones spinoff continued filming throughout the previous summer.
After releasing two teasers, the series unveiled a substantial new trailer packed with action, drama, and epic battles. The HBO Max show finally premieres on June 16, 2024. Naturally, House of the Dragon cast members graced the red carpet to celebrate the NYC premiere. Standouts Olivia Cooke and Emma D’Arcy made striking fashion statements, blending fantasy elements with regal attire.
‘House of the Dragon’ season two cast
Cooke blended fantasy genre elements with sophisticated, royal attire. She donned a sleeveless Loewe gown from the fall 2024 ready-to-wear collection. The striking blue dress included dramatic cutouts and a bold black belt. Cooke’s stylist, Ben Skervin, swept her hair back with a few strands framing her face. Her makeup artist, Hung Vanngo, created a dramatic eye and soft lip.
Emma D’Arcy donned a dazzling Celine ensemble. Their outfit included a black jacket with sparkling embellishments, leather trousers, a crisp white button-down, and a sleek black tie. Styled by Rose Forde, the English actor’s character, Rhaenyra Targaryen, wed her uncle, Daemon (Matt Smith), in season one.
The familial union disturbed some viewers. House of the Dragon writer Sara Hess told The Hollywood Reporter there are “many interpretations” of Daemon and Rhaenyra’s relationship in George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood. Regardless, Smith looked regally dressed at the season two premiere. The Crown actor added a unique twist to the classic black suit, including a white tie and light blue button-up.
House of the Dragon season one received praise for its incredible casting choices. The grownup versions of younger characters were incredibly believable, and familial features were noticeable between cast members playing relatives. With quintessential Targaryen features, Eve Best played Princess Rhaenys beautifully. Thankfully, we’ll see her again in season two. At the NYC premiere, she wore a black satin one-shoulder gown with a sheer sexy side panel.
Olivia Cooke’s onscreen family, including Phia Saban (Helaena Targaryen) and Tom Glynn-Carney (King Aegon II Targaryen), attended the premiere. Matthew Needham (Lord Larys Strong) walked the carpet in a slim brown suit.
Fans know Harry Collett as Prince Jacaerys from season one. Steve Toussaint (Lord Corlys Velaryon) and Fabien Frankel (Criston Cole) also attended.
