Ncis’ Fans Have A Lot To Say After Seeing Michael Weatherly’S Cryptic Tweet

Fans of NCIS are accustomed to seeing special agents join and leave the Naval Criminal Investigative Services after the show has been airing for more than 20 years. However, a few fans are really hoping that one actor will rejoin the popular show.

Fans of the CBS show were taken aback when Michael Weatherly, who starred as Anthony “Tony” DiNozzo for 13 seasons, shared a new photo on X, formerly known as Twitter, on November 6. The snapshot appeared to be of Weatherly wearing a suit similar to the one he worn on the popular procedural drama. His statement, which saw him posing for the camera in a black suit, matching tie, and square-shaped spectacles, honored actor Michael Caine, who gained notoriety for donning a similar outfit for his 1969 movie The Italian Job.

“My Michael Caine impression,” he simply wrote.

While the alum hasn’t been a fixture on NCIS for quite some time, one of his former co-stars certainly picked up on him posting the unexpected image online. “🔥,” replied Brian Dietzen (who plays Jimmy Palmer) on X, as Michael responded with, “Thank you Brian.”

Between Michael and Brian’s online rapport and the photo of Michael resembling his old character, fans bombarded the actor with NCIS references.

“Looks like a certain #NCIS agent we all miss,” one person commented on X. “How about a Tony impression?” another asked. “New Director of NCIS impression,” a different follower added.

We’re all wondering if Michael Weatherly will ever return to NCIS after reading the post. He has hinted at returning to the role of Tony over the years, though neither he nor CBS have provided any details. In a December 2021 tweet, he joked that he (as his character) still talks about working with Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon, who left partway through season 19 in October 2021).

What’s more, fans may remember that Michael’s character left the government unit in season 13, when he went to France and raise his daughter Tali, whose mother was his former love and fellow agent Ziva David (Cote de Pablo). In real life, though, Michael left the show to star in Bull on CBS, which ran for six seasons and ended in May 2022.
