NCIS: Origins is a spinoff from the beloved crime drama NCIS, and serves as the prequel to the long-running crime drama that has been on-air for decades
NCIS: Origins has something in store for viewers, and co-showrunner David J. North recently teased what’s to come in an interview with TVLine.
When speaking to the news outlet, David revealed what’s to be expected from the crime drama now that Christmas break has ended. Specifically, discussing what character Mike Franks’ (Kyle Schmid) storyline will be like in future episodes.
“With the Gibbs/Pedro Hernandez drama now behind us, ‘Mike is going to be dealing with a personal issue of his own,’” David told TVLine.
“Tish asked him to leave it alone when it comes to the guy who assaulted her, but the reality is that not pursuing the person who hurt his person is a difficult thing for Franks to do,” David added.
Since NCIS has been drawing audiences for many years, and it’s continuing to do so with the prequel series, NCIS: Origins. Covered in NCIS: Origins is the origin story of the character Leroy Jethro Gibbs, portrayed by Austin Stowell, in the early 1990s.
Addressed in the show, specifically during the Christmas episode, was the complex relationship between Leroy and Mike. In the episode Blue Bayou, Leroy’s development and the road he took to get on the NIS crew was spotlighted.
CBS divulged in October that the Blue Bayou episode would allow fans to enjoy the holidays with Leroy as he experiences his first Christmas without his wife and daughter, Collider reported in November
CBS also mentioned that the flashbacks in the December 25 show would unveil an “unlikely journey” that Leroy went through to get on the NIS team.
Additionally, the show also further delved into his connection with NIS’ team leader Mike. Before the Christmas episode aired, NCIS: Origins already teased the character Lala’s significance.
David shared with TV Line that the prequel series “is largely about Lala.” NCIS: Origins Season 1 premiere aired on October 14, 2024.
