NCIS: Origins star Kyle Schmid has been using his platform on the CBS spin-off to raise awareness for men’s health issues, and recently shared a passionate message on social media
Kyle Schmid, the star of NCIS: Origins, has been praised for his efforts to promote Movember, a movement dedicated to addressing men’s health issues, both physical and mental.

In the hit CBS spin-off series, Schmid steps into the shoes of Muse Watson to portray the iconic Mike Franks, serving as the seasoned guide to the fresh-faced Leroy Jethro Gibbs (played by Austin Stowell).

With his already famous moustache, Schmid is leveraging his new distinctive style to encourage fans to back the cause this November.

Speaking with Parade recently, he shared his personal connection to the Movember initiative.

“Movember’s got an umbrella of things from prostate cancers to other things, but for me it’s mental health,” he said. “I’ve known people who have struggled with substance abuse. I’ve lost friends to suicide”, reports the Express.

“I’m in an industry that’s full of incredibly talented, vulnerable people and we celebrate that vulnerability. It’s at times what makes us great actors. But wearing your heart on your sleeve comes at a price.

“At the same time, it’s giving me a perspective to kind of step outside of that and see what’s going on around me in the rest of the world.”

Schmid also discussed the challenging year he’s had after the loss of his mother last November.

“Seeing how that affected my family, loss gives you perspective,” he continued. “Without pain there is no change. With pain there’s growth.”

The star opened up about his mission to create change, sharing, “I just decided that I wasn’t going to let an opportunity like this pass me by again where I was on a show and I just didn’t take the opportunity to try and make a bit of a difference.”

With the arrival of a new baby girl earlier in the year, the actor expressed a heartfelt wish for the future: “I hope that whoever she’s dating in the future, whoever it is, lives in a world where mental health isn’t a conversation that is shunned,” said Schmid.

“I hope that there’s not a negative stigma around it. Because life is hard, period, for everybody. Let’s talk about it.”

Schmid’s recent Instagram update on his charity work drew a surge of gratitude from supporters, with comments flooding in.

Fans praised the actor’s philanthropy with enthusiastic responses such as “Amazing charity,” and continued their support by saying, “You are the best kyle with your fabulous team.

Congrats for all success, so proud of you kyle.”

The sentiment was echoed by another admirer who remarked, “You’re killing it! Such a great cause too!” while another encouraged him to “Keep fighting the good fight!”
