NCIS isn’t a stranger to killing off characters, but a show producer might have hinted at a future death in an upcoming episode
A possible death on NCIS might affect the future of Tim McGee and his actor, Sean Murray.
The long running crime procedural show has entered its 22nd season. In the season’s first episode, amid its various characters and their respective storylines, Tim was up for a promotion to be the Deputy Director of the agency – however the role ended up going to Gabriel LaRoche, played by Seamous Dever.
Now in a position of power, LaRoche is set up to be a major villain this season. This might not bode well for Tim’s wife, Delilah who is played by Margo Harshman.
Margot is confirmed to return to NCIS in the upcoming episode “Killer Instinct,” though it’s unclear when exactly the episode will air. Show producer Steven D Binder has shared plot details about this episode though, including Tim and Delilah meeting LaRoche and his wife.
Steven also noted that this episode will tie into the current mole storyline in Navy Yard. In an interview with TV Insider, the producer was asked about if anyone should worry for their jobs this season.
“Well the show’s called NCIS so they shouldn’t be all terribly concerned for their jobs, but we play life and death a lot on this show so I would think bigger,” he answered.
With Steven’s cryptic comment, many think that Delilah might be in LaRoche’s line of fire both metaphorically and physically. She is aware of Tim’s concern and suspicion of LaRoche, which might lead the new Deputy Director to target Tim through his wife.
This isn’t the first time NCIS would have killed off an important character to a main cast member. A central plot line in NCIS: Origins is that Leroy Jethro Gibbs (played by Mark Harmon in NCIS and Austin Stowell in NCIS: Origins) lost his first wife and daughter tragically. Jimmy Palmer (played by Brian Dietzen) lost his wife Breena during the COVID-19 pandemic.
It wouldn’t be out of the ordinary to kill off someone close to a fan-favorite character, but it might be shocking for fans. Recently Ducky died last season after the real life death of his actor, David McCallum.
