Nick Torres’ romance in NCIS season 22 has great potential for his character, but it might cause trouble for the Major Case Response Team. Since the beginning of NCIS season 22, Torres has expressed an interest in dating again, even going so far as to create an account on MateQuest, NCIS’ official dating app. This came as great news, as it meant Torres was officially over his heartbreak from Ellie Bishop in the NCIS season 18 finale.
Fortunately, it was not long until NCIS revealed that Torres was dating someone. However, he kept his relationship a secret from the team, even lying to them about his holiday plans. The secrecy hinted at the fact that his new romantic partner was someone who had appeared alongside the NCIS characters before, making her identity even more exciting. But with the recent revelation that Torres’ romantic partner is Robin Knight, Jessica Knight’s sister, there might be some tension in the upcoming episodes of NCIS season 22.
Torres & Robin’s Stance On Their Relationship In NCIS Season 22 Indicates They Are An Unstable Pairing
The Couple Might Not Agree On What They Are
It seemed as though Torres and Robin shared a serious relationship when the Christmas episode of NCIS season 22, “Humbug,” revealed that Torres was spending the holidays with someone he referred to as “babe.” While Robin’s identity was not revealed at the time, Torres was spending time with a romantic partner during the most family-oriented time of the year, implying that his relationship was serious. However, NCIS season 22, episode 10, “Baker’s Man,” revealed that Torres views his relationship with Robin as casual.
When Torres finally told Jessica that he has been dating her sister, Jessica was shocked. Their conversation, though brief, revealed that Torres and Robin did not share the same views on their relationship. While Torres insisted that Robin was not his girlfriend and that they were just casually dating, Jessica told him half-jokingly that Robin was probably already planning their wedding and taking their relationship much more seriously. Based on this discussion, Torres and Robin need to talk about their relationship and get on the same page. Until then, they are an unstable pairing.
Torres’ New Relationship Could Cause Distrust Between Him and Jessica In NCIS
Love Troubles Could Translate To Work Troubles
While Jessica told Torres that she was fine with him dating Robin, her fading smile when she turned away from him implied that she had some concerns about their relationship. Jessica loves her sister and trusts Torres, but she has had issues with her sister’s dating life in the past. Robin is painted as the complete opposite of Jessica, with impulsive tendencies and a rough dating history. It will likely be hard for Jessica to support Torres and Robin’s relationship if she cannot even tell Torres about her fears.
If Jessica maintains her silence about the relationship, these issues could build up until they explode during an uncomfortable situation.
If Jessica cannot feel comfortable enough to tell Torres what is on her mind, it could then lead to growing distrust between them. As partners that often deal with life-or-death situations, trust is vital for the safety of all NCIS members. Jessica’s predicament is valid as she does not want to hurt either Robin or Torres, but her decision to stay silent could have its own consequences. Unfortunately, if Jessica maintains her silence about the relationship, these issues could build up until they explode during an uncomfortable situation.
A Fight Could Force Jessica To Choose Between Her Sister And Her Partner
Both Robin and Torres Are Important To Jessica
While unpleasant, if Torres and Robin had a fight, Jessica could be placed in the uncomfortable position of picking sides. She has just become close with her sister again after the two of them went through a traumatic incident when Robin’s ex-fiancé turned out to be a villain in NCIS’ “Turkey Trot.” However, she also shares a close bond with Torres. Both characters are important to her for different reasons, which would make choosing sides extremely difficult. That’s not to mention that Jessica sees Torres every day for work, which would make any fight he has with her sister more awkward.
While it might seem like it is too soon to imagine a potential fight between Torres and Robin, their different stances on their relationship signal that they are not communicating. As both Robin and Torres have had bad dating histories, a potential fight is not out of the ordinary for the couple. This is likely one reason Jessica is unsure about the pairing. It is also why a disagreement between them could impact Jessica’s friendship with NCIS’ Torres and Robin, as they might turn to Jessica to discuss their relationship rather than each other.
