Outlander Prequel Series Set Photos Reveal First Look At Claire’s Parents

New set photos from Outlander: Blood of My Blood reveal a first look at Claire’s parents as filming in Glasgow, Scotland continues. The prequel show is expected to follow how Claire’s parents met during World War I, while also focusing on Jamie’s parents meeting in the 18th century. Unlike the original show, which is based on Diana Gabaldon’s book series of the same name, the upcoming prequel features an original story.

Now, The Herald has revealed set photos from the upcoming Outlander: Blood of My Blood, offering a first look at Claire’s parents. The photos reveal the characters Julia Moriston (Hermoine Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine) on a set of stairs in Glasgow, a horse-drawn carriage behind them. Two images focus on the couple having an emotional conversation on the wide set of stairs, while two others show Julia walking with the carriage parked behind her.

Outlander: Blood Of My Blood Promises A New Love Story

While Claire’s parents seem like they’ll be featured prominently in the prequel, it was first announced to have a wider focus on Jamie’s parents, Ellen (Harriet Slater) and Brian (Jamie Roy). Because of this, it’s unclear just how much focus the 20th century couple will get, nor how their presence will tie into the overall story. However, given the bloodline element of the new series, it makes sense for Claire’s heritage to also be featured.

Given the time periods to be featured in the new show, it’s unclear how standalone its story will be, or if important details will tie back into the main series. Since Outlander season 8 is going to be the last of the original show, it’s possible Blood of My Blood contains important details for its last batch of episodes. Season 7 part 2 hasn’t started yet either, meaning there could be even earlier references to its story.

Since Outlander: Blood of My Blood appears to be taking place only in its two distinct time periods, it likely won’t add any confusion to the Outlander series timeline with more time travel. However, given how much is still unknown about the series, it’s possible the love stories it tells are more tied together than expected. Details of how Claire and Jamie’s parents’ stories intersect may not be revealed until the series begins.
