Outlander Season 7’S Finale Just Made Blood Of My Blood Even More Exciting

Outlander season 7’s final episode was the perfect setup for the spinoff series Outlander: Blood of My Blood. The central romantacy series will be coming to a close with Outlander season 8, but this isn’t to say that audiences will have to say goodbye to the franchise as a whole. Before this final season releases, the spinoff Blood of My Blood will premiere its first batch of episodes. Though Jamie and Claire won’t be a feature of this new story, there will be connections aplenty between Outlander and its new spinoff. This fact has been perfectly demonstrated by season 7’s final episode.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood will jump back and forth between the 18th and 20th centuries, focusing on the respective romances between Jamie and Claire’s parents. Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie’s story unfolds in the early 1700s, while Henry Beauchamp and Julia Moriston’s story is set during World War I. It will be exciting to see how destiny brings these individuals together, thus leading to Jamie and Claire’s own romance across time and space. Still, new characters in a new series can sometimes be a tough draw, but Outlander season 7 managed an exceptional setup.

Brianna’s Chat With Brian Fraser Builds Interest In Blood Of My Blood’s Story

Brian Talked About His Relationship With Ellen MacKenzie

Outlander season 7 saw Roger and then Brianna travel back to 1739. This is when Brian Fraser is alive and well, though only a few short years before his tragic death. Brianna had the miraculous opportunity to meet her grandfather, who died long (technically 200 years) before she was born, in the finale of Outlander season 7. Brian was shocked to see that Brianna greatly resembled his late wife, Ellen, and he began to tell her about the beautiful woman he had loved. This is rather significant since it’s precisely this romance that will be at the center of Outlander: Blood of My Blood.

Jamie spoke often of his parents earlier in Outlander, but stories of Brian and Ellen had faded away in recent seasons. Outlander season 7 put significant effort into reminding audiences of these characters, thus developing a renewed interest in this particular tale. Still, the finale took this to a different level by introducing Brian to a time traveler. He has no idea in Outlander that he has met Jamie’s daughter and son-in-law. However, the fact that he has unknowingly had such a brush with magic hints at further excitement to come in Blood of My Blood.

Master Raymond’s Return Could Play Into Blood Of My Blood As Well

He Is The Puppet Master Of Outlander’s Universe

Outlander is a fantasy series at its core, but the romance aspect often overshadows this. The finale of season 7 has reminded audiences of the magic woven throughout the story. Season 8 is sure to lean into this even further, as indicated by the return of Master Raymond. This prehistoric time traveler seems to have a larger plan at play. He pulls the strings from the shadows, ensuring that time travelers like Claire and Brianna are in the right places at the right time. Roger and Brianna’s adventures in 1739 were no accident, and it will be interesting to see similar stories in Blood of My Blood.

The Outlander: Blood of My Blood trailer mentions destiny at work in the Fraser and Beauchamp romances. Brian and Ellen must meet for Jamie to be born, just as Henry and Julia must fall in love to bring Claire into the world. If Master Raymond had a plan for these central Outlander characters, he could have begun enacting it when their respective parents met and fell in love.

Could Claire’s Faith Theory In Outlander Season 7 Connect To The Prequel Series?

Outlander: Blood Of My Blood Could Reinforce The Faith Twist

As exciting as Brianna’s conversation with Brian and Master Raymond’s return was in the Outlander season 7 finale, the most intriguing twist was the reveal that Faith Fraser might have lived. Claire came to this conclusion after hearing Fanny Pocock sing “I Do Like to Be Beside the Seaside,” a song that was written in the early 1900s. Claire had sung this very song to her stillborn daughter. So, it’s possible that Fanny’s mother, Faith Pocock, and Jamie and Claire’s child, Faith Fraser, are one and the same person. However, there are a variety of problems with Claire’s theory.

It seems instead that Faith Pocock must have some more direct connection to the future.

If Mater Raymond had used his mysterious powers to bring baby Faith back from the dead, she wouldn’t have remembered Claire’s song enough to teach it to her children years later. It seems instead that Faith Pocock must have some more direct connection to the future. Perhaps, after resurrecting her, Master Raymond took the baby to the 20th century to be raised by someone else. Outlander: Blood of My Blood would be in the perfect position to get the ball rolling in this regard. Of course, only time will tell. Regardless of the answer, the Outlander spinoff sounds even better after season 7.
