Outlander’s Caitríona Balfe and Sam Heughan share a photo of their final table read for the series. Balfe and Heughan portray Claire and Jamie, respectively, in the fantasy drama series, who are the main lovers on the hit Starz show. They have played the characters since the show’s 2014 debut and will reprise their roles for a final time in Outlander season 8.

Taking to Instagram, Heughan and Balfe share photos of their final table read for the series.

The Jaime actor shared three photos in this post. The first was a selfie of him and Balfe sitting at a table together to read the show’s script. The second image showed him on location for Outlander, with beautiful water behind him. The next image was the front page of an Outlander script, with the actor covering a label that might reveal an episode title, or any other telling information, with his hand. He captioned his post with “Final readthrough. Final block. Final season.”

Her post came in the form of an Instagram reel, where Balfe included a short video that paired all the photos and the BTS get-together. Similarly, the first image was a picture of her and Heughan. Balfe’s caption expressed her extreme gratitude towards Outlander, saying “thank you” to many individuals, alongside the “cast and crew and fans.” She noted how far the show has come in “11 years and 101 episodes.”

What Is Next For Outlander?

Jamie and Claire’s Tale Is Far From Over

While Balfe and Heughan prepare for the show’s end, it will be a while before the series reaches that point. Season 8 will conclude the long-running historical fantasy epic, but there is still a long way to go to get there. Outlander season 7, part 2 will premiere on Friday, November 22 of this year, with season 8 arriving after that. Thus, even though the series is ending, audiences will still get to immerse themselves in Jamie and Claire’s story for at least another year or so longer.

Furthermore, the universe will expand even after the end of the classic show. An Outlander prequel spinoff titled Outlander: Blood of My Blood is currently in development. The series will chronicle the love stories of Jamie’s parents in 18th-century Scotland and Claire’s parents in World War I England. Though Jamie and Claire are not born yet when Blood of My Blood’s timeline begins, the prequel will provide insight into its world and potential origins. Hence, the Outlander stories are far from over, even with the main series clocking down to its final episodes.
