Outlander stars Sam Heughan and Caitríona Balfe have revealed a huge show milestone while working on the final season.
The show’s upcoming eighth season will see fans say goodbye to Jamie and Claire – and the two stars have emotionally marked their final table read together.
Taking to his Instagram page, Heughan posted a series of photos, including one of him alongside his co-star at the read.
“Final readthrough. Final block. Final season. @outlander_starz,” he wrote, accompanied by heart and Scottish flag emojis.
Balfe also marked the occasion on her page, posting a video montage from the day.
“Here we are …… 11 years 101 episodes and a whole lotta love, sweat and tears (and some blood) …,” she wrote, before thanking fans, her co-stars, including Heughan, and executive producers Maril Davis and Matthew B Roberts.
Work on the eighth season began earlier this year. The show announced the news with a behind-the-scenes video that included Heughan and Balfe reflecting on the series.
Earlier this month, the Jamie Fraser actor also marked 10 years since Outlander debuted, telling fans: “We wouldn’t be here without you guys, the fans, so a huge thank you to all the fans who have supported us over the years.”
Before the final season, the second part of season seven is due to air later this year – November 22 to be exact.
While the show may be coming to an end, fans shouldn’t despair as the Outlander universe will continue in prequel series Blood of My Blood, which focuses on Jamie and Claire’s parents over two time periods.
The series will star Hermione Corfield, Jeremy Irvine, Harriet Slater and Jamie Roy as the four main characters.
