It’s official, Criminal Minds: Evolution fans — it looks like we’re in for another season solving cases with the BAU!
With the hit drama airing new episodes of season 2 weekly on Paramount+, fans of the show got the best announcement ahead of the June 6 premiere. Variety revealed that Criminal Minds: Evolution got renewed for season 3 on June 5, elongating the future of the Criminal Minds franchise that kicked off in 2005. If that wasn’t enough, the outlet exclusively revealed that the show’s third season (season 18 overall) is set to start production sometime later this year.
After the announcement of Criminal Minds: Evolution scoring a season 3, it didn’t take long for star Paget Brewster (who plays BAU section chief Emily Prentiss) to speak out by using the show’s iconic catchphrase. “WHEELS UP!!!” she excitedly commented on X (formerly Twitter).
Paget wasn’t the only one thrilled by this news. Longtime viewers were equally elated and quickly rushed to voice their opinion about it.
“So exciting!! can’t wait to see what’s to come <3,” one person wrote on X. “PAGET!!!! YESSSSS! Best news of the day, especially as I woke up and spent the majority of the day thinking it was their day!” another exclaimed. “It just feels different when it comes from Queen Paget personally 😭🎉,” a different follower added.
Although details behind Criminal Minds: Evolution season 3 are under wraps, fans can tune in every Thursday on Paramount+ to see the BAU’s current episodes-long case play out. As fans know, the team is busy looking to find the man behind the UnSub named Gold Star, and they have to work with last season’s villain Elias Voit (Zach Gilford) in order to pin down who is behind it.
Thankfully, folks will soon have another season in their midst, something Paget’s co-star Joe Mantegna also confirmed on X.
“I’m thrilled to announce that we will be doing another season of Criminal Minds Evolution,” he captioned a photo on June 5.
