The ongoing strife between Kody, Gabriel and Garrison has kept father and sons apart throughout season 18 of the reality series. Kody Brown is working on his relationships with his kids. On Sunday’s episode of Sister Wives, the 54-year-old visits ex-wife Janelle Brown’s new apartment, which she shares with their daughter Savanah.
“Kody has been making an effort with Savanah. He takes her out to dinner every couple of weeks,” Janelle acknowledged. “He is seeing her more frequently than he was at the beginning of the year for sure.”
When it comes to Kody’s estrangement with sons, Garrison and Gabe, however, things still have not progressed.
“My relationship with Savanah is sweet, gentle. I haven’t been in touch with Gabriel and Garrison for quite a while,” he shared.
“I’m pretty sad that I’m not close [to them] anymore. There was just so many things in our lives that we did that were rich together, you know, just special experiences,” he continued. “I think and hope that in time we’ll just get over this and that we’ll be safe being back around each other. Right now, there’s not really an open door with Gabe and Garrison. They’re they’re not willing to engage me.”
In an episode that aired last month, the 54-year-old mom shared her concerns about how sons Gabe, 21, and Garrison, 24, are handling their strained relationship with Kody.
“Me and Garrison are at odds with my dad, because when we expressed our discontent at how things were going with COVID, I was met with just a wall,” Gabriel said early on in Sunday’s episode. “And there was no line of dialogue. I think that that is what really drove the wedge between us.”
In a later confessional, Janelle said, “I have worried about my boys’ mental health. Gabriel feels everything very, very deeply. But he’s also the kid who doesn’t say anything.”
Of Garrison, she added he “just seems angry or sadder, like, he’s not as happy-go-lucky as he used to be.”
After years of practicing polygamy, Kody now finds himself in a monogamous marriage with his fourth wife Robyn after Janelle, Meri and Christine left him within 14 months. The fallout from those three marriages, as well as overall family turmoil, have been a focal point of Sister Wives’ 18th season.
Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
