Sister Wives season 18 episode 6 gave a look into the fallout of Janelle Brown & Kody Brown’s fight, and put love on the horizon for Christine Brown.

The sixth episode of Sister Wives season 18, “The Understatement Of The Year,” gave Kody Brown and Janelle Brown some closure in their relationship while also giving viewers a look at the Brown family on Valentine’s Day. No one has been affected by Kody’s divorce from Christine Brown as badly as Janelle, despite the fact that it has been a major source of difficulty in all of his previous relationships. Unlike Robyn Brown and Meri Brown, Janelle has had to deal with Kody’s rage and irrationality, especially after she decided to stand up for her children. Sister Wives season 18 episode 3 included a confrontation between Kody and Janelle, and they have since kept their distance.

Sister spouses season 18 has also examined Kody’s other spouses in relation to the larger Brown family, even though the season’s focus thus far has been on his relationship with Janelle. Sister Wives, one of the most intriguing reality TV shows currently on the air, has shown Meri seeking to mend her marriage to Kody while Robyn refuses to accept any responsibility for their family’s discord. It has been interesting to observe the Brown family’s reactions as their new family dynamic has come to light, despite the fact that everyone is traveling in various directions.

Christine Revealed She’s Enlisted A Professional Matchmaker

While the rest of the Brown family were dealing with their own issues in Flagstaff, Christine was holding court with her children in Salt Lake City. Christine and a few of her older children, including Mykelti Padon and Aspen Thompson, all took part in a night of painting together as Christine spoke about the importance of keeping her children close. She explained that watching her kids become parents has been a deep joy in her life, but she’s looking for love in a romantic sense, too.

Christine explained to her children that she made the choice to consult a professional matchmaker because her track record when it comes to romantic love hasn’t been incredible in the past. Though her marriage to Kody was fruitful and gave her a family, she shared that she wasn’t exactly in a “romantic” marriage. She seemed excited about the prospect of meeting someone new, explaining, ”I want bald, tattoos, and driving a motorcycle…I’m just looking for something Kody never was.” Christine’s children all seemed supportive of her decision, hopeful for their mother’s future.

Janelle And Kody Had Their First Post-Fight Conversation

After their significant confrontation, Kody and Janelle avoided each other for the bulk of the time depicted on Sister Wives, but they ultimately decided it was time to talk things out. Kody recognized that the altercation was a blow-up that wasn’t really necessary. He intended to approach their discussion with the utmost composure and remorse. On the other hand, Janelle was terrified to see Kody. Janelle was uncertain of where they were and anxious about their communication, fearing that she was still too distraught for them to have a fruitful dialogue.

Meri Checked In About Her Business Plans & Relationship

Meri revealed during Sister Wives season 18 episode 5 that she would be moving temporarily to Utah for her business. She was candid about her relationship with Kody, explaining her worries about moving away from the family homestead in Flagstaff even temporarily. “I’d like my relationship with Kody to get to a place where we have, like, a good marriage relationship, but that’s not where it is right now,” Meri explained. “I feel like when I tell him I’m going to be moving my business up to the B&B, he’s going to interpret that as [me being] done with this relationship. That’s not where I am.”

Kody And Janelle Were Awkward Around Each Other

When Kody and Janelle finally sat down for a meal together, it was incredibly awkward from the jump. Kody was clearly more open to talking than Janelle, neither knew the best way to get the ball rolling when it came to actually discussing what had happened between them. Kody tried to open up with Janelle, but she was too closed off for him to start sharing. Janelle, who offered the olive branch to Kody that they “both did our fair share of screaming,” insinuating they were both to blame for how difficult their conversation had gone. Kody jumped in quickly to explain himself, sharing he was “embarrassed about my behavior.”

It was clear that Kody didn’t feel good about his reactions in the fight with Janelle, and knew that he’d made her uncomfortable with how aggressive he’d gotten. He continually explained that his divorce from Christine left him feeling triggered by any argument he was having, and though that wasn’t Janelle’s fault, he didn’t know how to deal with it outside of taking his anger out on her. In a rare moment of clarity from Kody, it felt clear that he knew he’d been much too rough on Janelle and hadn’t given her an emotionally stable way to discuss their real issues with him.

While Janelle felt strongly that the argument was more on Kody’s shoulders than her own, she was clear in the fact that there were two sides to the issue and Kody couldn’t take the blame entirely. “It was ugly and sad,” Janelle admitted of their argument, finally open to talking with her husband about the issues rather than keeping them to herself. Kody, for his part, took the majority of the blame and tried to explain his actions.

“I am realizing that I am…morphing or transmuting grief into anger,” Kody shared. He explained that he’s been feeling tremendously triggered, but that isn’t Janelle’s fault, especially in the moment of conflict. “I realize that I’m just…not a safe place for you to have a conversation. Just one trigger after another setting me off.” While Janelle seemed to already understand that it wasn’t just the issue at hand bothering Kody, she didn’t have much sympathy for him about the issues with Christine conflating with his own issues with her, explaining that by now he should know how to separate his marriages.

Janelle Told Kody She Wanted To Stay Separated

Janelle clarified that although though she was feeling better about her relationship with Kody, she still felt that for the time being, being apart was the best course of action. Janelle told a shocked Kody, “I truly do think I want to stay apart for now. Just be aware that I must be alone at this time. You still hold a special place in my heart. Janelle was happy with the chat she and Kody had, but she wasn’t yet prepared to speak with him one-on-one. Kody accepted her offer of counseling for the two of them quickly despite his disbelief.

“I’m sort of surprised that she doesn’t want to reconcile, that she wants to stay separated.” Kody shared in a Sister Wives interview segment. He went on to explain this isn’t the first time he and Janelle have been separated. “We’ve been separated…two or three times in the past. I always felt like that was because she couldn’t manage the relationship with her sister wives, I never felt like that was over me.” It seems that for the first time, Kody may actually be taking the blame in a tricky situation in one of his marriages. Unfortunately for Kody, it may be too little, too late.
Kody And Janelle Admitted They Missed Each Other

On Sister Wives season 18, Kody and Janelle will remain apart from one another, but the outcome wasn’t all negative for the duo. The two eventually reached a stage where they could openly discuss their relationship and even appeared affectionate toward the end of their session. When asked if she and Kody would get along well if they were abandoned on a desert island, Janelle admitted that she does love him very much. However, that is not how life is.

On his side, Kody made an effort to reassure Janelle about the future. He said, “You and I are married; you and I will work this out; there will be a safe space here.” The conversation went well for Janelle, but Kody shared that it wasn’t the result he had been looking for, saying, “I thought we would reconcile right here, but it went better than Janelle expected.” With or without Kody, Janelle closed the conversation by sounding optimistic about her future. If [Kody] wanted it, I might try to work on it, the Sister Wives actress said. However, if he doesn’t want it, I believe there is a better option for me.
