On Sunday’s episode of TLC’s “Sister Wives,” Janelle and Kody Brown finally get together after their heated argument over the holidays, as seen in a brand-new preview released by People.
They’re supposed to be talking about how their marriage is doing, but Kody diverts the topic to how shocked he was by his third wife Christine Brown’s choice to leave him, which she made public in November 2021.
In a confessional interview for the episode, Janelle disputes Kody’s claim that he had no idea Christine was planning on leaving him.
“It always shocks me that he purports that he never saw this coming,” she says. “He’s been telling me for years that he wasn’t attracted to Christine, they were struggling in their marriage.” Though Janelle and Kody were only discussing a separation in the scene that Janelle was reflecting on, she says in her confessional, “I would’ve left his ass the first time he said that to me.”
Kody and Janelle have six adult children together, whose ages range from 18 to 29. In December 2022, Janelle made the announcement that she and Kody were divorcing. In August 2023, she disclosed to People that she was no longer wed to Kody.
Janelle expresses how Kody’s response to Christine’s divorce has “shocked” her. He claims that he didn’t anticipate this, she says. He’s been saying to me for years that Christine wasn’t his type of person. They were having marital difficulties.
In People’s clip of Sunday’s episode, likely filmed in early 2022, Janelle tells Kody that she wants to stay separated.
Although they’ve experienced separations in the past, Kody tells the cameras that he always believed Janelle’s interactions with her former sister wives—and not their own love relationship—were to cause. However, as seen in earlier “Sister Wives” episodes, Kody forced Janelle to choose between him and her kids for the 2021 holidays and neglected to call their daughter Savanah for Christmas, blaming it on their altercation.
As the clip concludes, Janelle tells the cameras how she’s “shocked” by Kody’s reaction to Christine’s divorce. “He purports that he never saw this coming,” she says. “He’s been telling me for years that he wasn’t attracted to Christine. They were struggling in their marriage.”
“Sister Wives” airs Sundays at 10 p.m. on TLC.
