Meri Brown may seem like she’s ready to leave Kody Brown in recent episodes of Sister Wives, but fans say she’s still in “extreme denial.”
Fans still believe that Meri Brown, a Sister Wives actress, is in denial about her marriage to Kody Brown ending, even though she may be considering leaving the show during season 18. It has been difficult to support Meri for years, even when she just declared on Sister Wives that she would not keep quiet about what was going on in her marriage to Kody, even if he had asked her to. Despite being the most optimistic of Kody’s wives when it comes to their romance returning, Meri and her husband haven’t had a spark in almost ten years, ever since Meri’s highly publicized catfishing incident.
In a clip from Sister Wives season 18, episode 11 (courtesy of TLC on Instagram), Meri shared that she and Kody had gone out for their 32nd wedding anniversary when he dropped a bomb on her about the state of their relationship. Kody shared that he has “no desire to have a relationship with [her]…he said, ‘Don’t you understand, Meri? This is never going to happen. Your life is not one that I want to insert myself into.'”
In her interview portion, Meri looked devastated and that she would “never forget those words” since they were so painful. After Meri made her announcement, many admirers expressed their surprise in a timely manner. One such fan was @briseno4everr, who wrote, “This woman is in such denial that it’s annoying at this point.” @meeshy1975, another fan, commented, “It’s mind-blowing that you’re surprised.” It was evident from the emotion that Meri ought to have anticipated Kody’s claim. Many remarks expressed the opinion that Meri is in “extreme denial.”
Meri & Kody Brown’s Sister Wives Relationship Explained
After 32 years of marriage, it seems like Meri is starting to understand that she and Kody won’t have another chance at improving their relationship. Meri was Kody’s first wife, and though she was only married to him for a few short years on her own before Janelle Brown joined the family, she’s always felt she had a strong connection with Kody that wouldn’t easily break. Meri and Kody’s relationship has been rocky over the last decade, as Meri agreed to legally divorce Kody to allow Robyn Brown to marry him. After Meri’s catfishing scandal drove a wedge even further between the couple, things have been platonic at best.
Meri’s comments seemed ambiguous when she realized in the most recent episode of Sister Wives season 18, even though it’s been obvious for a long time that she and Kody were struggling. Meri, who has always been unduly hopeful about their relationship, has obviously been delusional in thinking that she and Kody will get back together. Sadly for Meri, Kody has always been the more grounded partner in their relationship. He’s known for years that he and Meri wouldn’t be becoming closer and that their marriage was more of a show than a genuine connection.
With Meri now on the same page as Kody, things may be tough for her as she continues to come out of denial. She will be working through her emotions in upcoming episodes of Sister Wives and will likely continue doing so for months, if not years, to come. Meri may be dealing with grief and sorrow, but it’s possible that her split from Kody will be a cathartic, freeing experience for the reality star.
