Sister Wives – What Does Kody Brown’s New Ring Mean? (He’s Not Wearing The Claddagh Ring Anymore)

Sister Wives patriarch Kody Brown wore a bold new ring during his meeting with Meri and Robyn Brown. What does the piece of jewelry mean?

Kody Brown, a star of Sister Wives, met with Meri and Robyn Brown while sporting an intriguing new item. Meri couldn’t help but make a remark about his flashy ring as she described her intention to leave Flagstaff. Kody didn’t say much, but what he did not say spoke a lot. Even Robyn Brown has observed how Kody is evolving. The ring is a representation of yet another turning point in his quest.

Season 18 of Sister Wives is about change, and change is difficult. However, there is occasionally liberation when bad habits are broken. The blank gives way to something fresh, and life begins. Change may make the actors on the show uneasy, with the exception of Christine Brown (who undoubtedly effortlessly leaps into the unknown), but it is vital. The Brown family was stuck in a cycle that was doing no one any good. The other wives were ignored as Robyn and Kody presented a unified front. Meri is now prepared to imitate Christine’s leap of faith, but unlike Christine, who never takes anything half-way, she is more cautious.

Kody’s Ring Doesn’t Bode Well For Meri

This season, reality show star Kody’s talked about his bond with Robyn, and the fact that he decided to wear that piece of jewelry to a meeting with Meri sent disturbing signals. While he was willing to wear a new ring around Meri, which he surely knew she’d notice, he wasn’t willing to talk about what the piece of jewelry meant to him. The fact that he would flaunt it, but wouldn’t explain its meaning, seemed like a shady power play.

Kody plays with Meri in this way a lot. Though he claims he doesn’t want to hurt her, he actually does. Why wasn’t he able to simply discuss the ring? He didn’t say anything, letting her thoughts roam. She would naturally presume the worst given her relationship with Kody in the past. One significant aspect is that Kody is substituting the Brown family Claddagh ring with the new one. By doing this, he appears to be signaling to everyone that he has changed and that the new ring is exclusively for Robyn.

Obviously, when he took off the Claddagh ring and put a new one on, he was breaking a family tradition. Maybe it’s time it was broken. Kody’s been living a lie. If the new ring’s about his commitment to Robyn and only Robyn, and he’s keeping that information secret, that tells a story.

Since he’s been gushing about his “romantic tension” with Robyn this season, and lamely trying to shield his wives from that electric connection, the jig is up. No one is fooled, and other wives are running away because they don’t want to live like that anymore. They want to live for themselves, and for people who really care about them.

Kody’s ring’s grand in terms of size and scale, it’s almost like he chose it just so everyone would notice it immediately. He could have gone for a design that was more subtle, but he probably bought one of the biggest rings available. While it’s not encrusted with diamonds or anything like that, it stands out. He’s getting bolder about Robyn, although he whines that they’re not allowed to show their love in front of the other women. With that in mind, this ring’s probably his way of saying, “This is my wife. Robyn’s my true love.”

The problem is that he’s still playing games with Meri and Janelle, who are stars of Sister Wives season 18. He is coming up with crazy ideas for Meri to keep her from leaving Flagstaff, including the bizarre “Barndominium” option, which she immediately rejected. He took Janelle on a “first date” that had a promising beginning but an unpleasant conclusion. She sensed that something wasn’t right, and that’s when everything started to go wrong. Everyone is aware of it. Ninety-nine percent of the time, the ring Kody is wearing has some connection to Robyn, whom he adores. He doesn’t just put it on to seem fashionable.
