The Boys Showrunner Clarifies Comments On When The Series Will End

The Boys appears to have a bright future on Prime Video ahead of its fourth season. The show was already renewed for a fifth season, and its showrunner isn’t even trying to guess when it may all come to an end.

Years in the past, Kripke estimated that The Boys would likely cap off its run after five seasons. Now, the series showrunner has reached the five-season goal, but he’s not ready to say goodbye just yet. Per Inverse, Kripke shared how he jumped the gun with his Season 5 prediction, which was made back in 2020. Now, referring to how another show he created — Supernatural — lasted 15 seasons after an initial 5-season prediction, Kripke says he’s no longer making any estimates at all.

“I have learned since then to not try to call the seasons as the person who, and this is without hyperbole, is literally the most wrong in entertainment history of how many seasons their show should go,” Kripke explained. “Someone pointed that out to me and I was like, ‘You’re right. That’s ridiculous. I need to keep my mouth shut.’ And so I will.”

“No one was more wrong in all of human history about how many seasons their show was going to go than this guy.”

Kripke also noted, “No one was more wrong in all of human history about how many seasons their show was going to go than this guy. So I am not going to make that same mistake twice. Guinness World Record of who is dumbest about how long their show should go, there would literally be a picture of me.”

Naturally, this has fans excited about the idea of The Boys going on for much, much longer, perhaps even a 15-season run like Supernatural. However, Kripke took to X after the article was published to clear up some confusion. He was not necessarily hinting that The Boys will in fact go on beyond Season 5, and reiterating how all he’s doing is refusing to speculate one way or another. That could very well mean that The Boys could end up wrapping up with Season 5 after all.

Eric Kripke Isn’t Saying the Series Will Surpass Season 5

In response to a post about Kripke teasing a future beyond Season 5, the showrunner said, “You guys. If you read the article, all I said is that I won’t speculate on when the show ends.

No comment, basically. Trust me please. I got this.”
