Brianna MacKenzie star Sophie Skelton admits she almost ‘knocked out’ her Outlander co-star.

Outlander fans are left impatiently waiting for what promises to be a breathtaking eighth and final season, following the dramatic conclusion of the seventh instalment.

Stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe have ended their on-screen journey as the much-loved Jamie and Claire Fraser in the popular Starz series.

The latest finale delighted viewers as Brianna, portrayed by Sophie Skelton, and Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin) had their hearts re-entwined after agonisingly living apart across divergent timelines.

Skelton recently shared a delightful behind-the-scenes clip, revealing her potentially overzealous enthusiasm during the filming of their much-anticipated reunion scene.

She announced: “It’s a wrap on season seven and we are back together. Reunion!” This sentiment was echoed by Rankin who noted: “On the last day, we’re back together.”

This separation marks not the first but one amongst many across the duo’s eight-year partnership, with Skelton humorously commenting on the recurrent theme of their reunions.

“There’s always running,” she said. “Which always seems to be me, actually now I think about it, running to Roger.”

Rankin chimed in: “It feels like they have a bit of experience in it now. It’s an experienced coming together.”

Skelton reminisced about a past season when they were apart for an extended time, leading up to an emotional convergence at Aunt Jocasta’s (Maria Doyle Kennedy) abode.

Skelton had quite a tale to tell about the pandemonium of their intense reunions, candidly admitting: “Obviously, me being involved, it turns into knocking the wind out of him.”

The Outlander actress didn’t shy away from sharing that her period-accurate attire did little to ease things on that particular day.

“And also, I was running, trying to run in the big skirt, with shoes on that were blistering my feet to smithereens,” she explained.

“Running there and, obviously, back to start the take again.”

Rankin added his perspective with a laugh: “I remember just watching you that day from, like, half a mile away and just watching you run.

“It’s like, she’s running. She’s still running. She’s still running…”

Despite the gruelling episodes during filming, both Skelton and Rankin expressed their excitement for returning in season seven and ultimately concluding Bree and Roger’s storyline in the following season eight.
