Will Ll Cool J’S Appearance As Sam Hanna Make Fans Remember The Abrupt End Of “Ncis: Hawai’I”?

The disappointment from NCIS: Hawai’i’s cancelation still hasn’t been alleviated after CBS canceled the hit NCIS show, and it is about to get worse. NCIS: Hawai’i was one of the more vibrant NCIS spinoffs, and its wonderful scenery and cast made its cancelation all the more painful. Even so, there has been hope that the network could reverse its decision or at least bring some characters back through the flagship. However, NCIS season 22 is proving that is not likely.

The flagship series has featured many cameos and crossovers from the rest of the NCIS universe ever since it first aired in 2003. It even included an NCIS: Hawai’i crossover a few seasons back. However, season 22’s latest cast announcement has revealed that NCIS’s newest guest star is someone with close ties to the Hawaiian team, making their solo appearance comparable to rubbing salt in the wound.

LL Cool J’s Sam Hanna Is Confirmed To Appear In NCIS Season 22

LL Cool J Will Appear In Episode 18

Via a post on the NCISverse’s Instagram page, the franchise announced that LL Cool J is returning for NCIS season 22. He will appear alongside Parker’s (Gary Cole) MCRT, likely aiding in solving a case. No additional information was given about his part in the show, but it is safe to assume that he will be reprising his role as Sam Hanna, one of NCIS: Los Angeles’ best characters.

This will not be the first time that LL Cool J has appeared in the flagship, as Sam has been a regular guest star on the show ever since NCIS’ first crossover with NCIS: Los Angeles. While he usually appears with the rest of his team, it is not unusual for him to do a crossover event alone. Sam has particularly been a helpful ally to the NCIS team as he has used his unique skills of being both a special agent and former Navy SEAL to aid the team in solving their cases.

Sam Was Last Seen Working With Jane Tennant On NCIS: Hawai’i

Sam Was Integral To NCIS: Hawai’i

While originally a main character of NCIS: Los Angeles, Sam slowly built his way up to becoming a recurring character in NCIS: Hawai’i as well. He began as a guest star in season 2 before becoming a valuable asset to the team in season 3. Sam’s increased appearances in NCIS: Hawai’i overlapped with the cancelation of NCIS: Los Angeles, which gave LL Cool J the perfect opportunity to join the Hawaiian team.

As a result, the last time Sam was seen in the NCIS franchise, he was working closely with NCIS: Hawai’i’s Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey). Sam held such a significant role with this team and with Jane that seeing him appear on NCIS alone now is almost painful. His appearance in NCIS season 22 should be good news, but because of his connection to NCIS: Hawai’i, it just serves as a reminder of what CBS chose to give up.
